Bummer man! I was hoping, after your BBQ hot dog memories to tell you about what my mom did with them...wrap them up in a biscuit with a slice of "American" cheese, bake 'em and serve up "Pigs In Blankets"...she shoulda let them sleep 'cause there's no "meat" on earth worse than hot dogs!
We did the Hamburger Helper thing once a week too, but only the Cheeseburger Macaroni because one of us would always HURL if she made any of the others...she loved her kids...making the Hamburger Helper that didn't make them sick! ;)

She would make "Mexican Food"....basically a variety of crap fried up in greasy corn tortillas and would run our friends out of the house trying to make them eat the stuff...they got to where they'd ask what mom was cooking and if it was "Mexican" they would not come in!

She did a thing with pork chops that I did myself until I quit eating pork though...bread and quick fry them, then bake them in Cream of Chicken soup...tastes pretty good if you like pork chops!

She was a baker's envy though...cakes & cookies...my my my....she should have been so at good using the top of the stove!

I am a cook...been at it since I was seven...that's ummmm almost 33 years of experience...you like corn on the cob? Pick the ears with the hardest kernels, bring them to a boil in a pot of water with a tablespoon of sugar and a tablespoon of lemon juice...let it boil for two minutes, take it off the heat and let it sit for ten minutes....best corn on the cob you'll ever eat and you can thank Betty Crocker! ;)

My mom could burn salad. We used to use her biscuits to throw into traffic and for baseball practice. The only consolation I have is that she doesn't cook as badly as Alex's mom.

Oh yeah! My mom cooks very good. I like all of her foods.

i grew up poor (hell, i still am) and my mom was STILL a good cook. my favorite thing that mom made was tater-tot casserole. she would spread a bunch of ground beef in the bottom of a casserole dish, smooth cream of mushroom soup over the top of it, put about two layers of tater-tots, and cover it with ALOT of shredded cheese, then bake it till it was done. i coule eat about two pounds of it before i got full, lol.

how much is your salary
i have to tell you that in romania an averege salary is about 100$
so think about it

and the old people get about 12$
do you still think your poor

on topic: mmy mom is an excelent cook
she makes me "sarmale"
and another good food is a soop with all the stuff in the world in it
i don't know how it's made but it's great

LOL!! Do yall have 7-11s where you live? Or at least those convenience stores where they have the hotdogs slowly rolling on these coils, all shrivelled up and beaded with sweat? They are so sick looking, I like to call them "mummy's fingers" cause that is what they look like LOL! What gets me is I'll stop in there for a cup of coffee in the morning, and there is a group of construction guys there just a-buyin em up! Hello! Good morning! Breakfast of Champions! Lemon juice eh? Never tried that before. What does it do? Does it make the corn taste lemmony (sp?) Doh! I always thought the softer kernels were the freshest! Will get the hard kernels next time I buy corn on the cob :D

My mom is indeed a pretty good cook - not excellent, but good. She cooks slightly more exotic things now than when I lived at home, much to the chagrin of my more spartan appetite.

My dad is a good cook too - more meat and potatoish but he makes awesome soups too.

Me, I despise cooking. Eating I like!

that sounds pretty tasty morgan I'll have to try that. actually my mom is a terrible cook, so my dad does all the cooking in my household, but hes pretty good so no complaints from me.

Ha! LadyZ I'm one of those construction guys that buys the hotdogs in the morning ! Oh and my mom was a terrible cook as I grew up, although she has gotten a bit better. Except for a couple years ago when I was visiting she microwaved corned beef. Like rubber it was, we ended up going out to dinner lol

Mitro, your parents sound like great people!

As for my Mum's cooking - brilliant. She's especially good at Russian Fish Pie and Chicken Fricasi (not sure on the spelling).
