Hey Moni, do you think that the popcorn thing is a Siamese trait? I don't know. I have had other Siamese in the past and neither one of them liked popcorn. You just reminded me, yes, the french fries. He loves them.

Well, I've never seen my mixed Siamese eat popcorn, but she does love french fries. She also likes potato chips, any cheese-flavored snack food, and coffee! I used to think she just liked the smell, but if you put an empty or half-empty cup down, she'll lick the inside of the cup. She prefers it with cream (of course), but she'll take it black.

Maybe I'm being annoying but I do want to stress that you should take very good note of what your pet is eating and that it is very unhealthy and even health-threatening to feed your cat/dog/whatever food from your own plate. Their digestive systemn is not made for it and it can make them very ill or overweight.

My cat has a passion for dairy. Not unusual at first, except that he would eat ANYTHING with dairy, including sugared yoghourts with fruits (also eats the fruit), and he has a passion for EXPENSIVE cheese. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

You're absolutely right Melusine. Animals are different to humans, and there are various things they can't eat.
Hamsters cannot have chocolate - it can kill them
Parrots & parakeets cannot have avocado or parsley, it can be fatal, and lettuce is toxic if fed over a period of time.
There is an ingredient in many processed cereal products which as a slight side effect makes humans sweat slightly - so slightly that it is not noticeable. However, feed it to an animal that doesn't sweat (dogs, cats, birds etc.) and their body temperature will rise which could cause illness or even death.
Anyway, lecture over!

There are plenty of things that will not do harm, especially in small quantities.
As a kid, I had a budgie that would eat anything I gave it, and it ocassionally had little bits of plain cookie as a treat, or wholemeal bread. I once gave it a slice of lemon though - very cruel, I know. He rushed over to it eagerly, took a nibble, and started rubbing his beak on the perch to get rid of the taste. I was only a child, and it didn't do him any damage, just tasted sour...

BTW most animals that cant have chocolate. Its only the really rich baking chocolate thats actually poisonous. The other chocolate will only kill/make them ill if you give them alot.

Just to add a note for myself (I know this comment has been addressed a number of times); My cats only get "junk food" when they steal it! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

They are very well fed on a diet of varieties of nutritional cat food (See the three wishes thread lol).

I do give them dairy products at room temp (milk, sour cream or cheese) on ocassion but only if they beg, I think they know when they need it.
