Lot's happened in 05 for me.
Finaly plucked up the corrage to stop living the lie, and be true to myself, started my first relationship, ever, had my first ever kiss, and a number of other related firsts. My boyfriend proposed, I accepted. so many not so good parts, but enough really good parts that they don't matter so much. |
Good thanks.
I spent the night getting drunk with a mate and watching bad terrestrial TV. Amazingly, I didn't get a hangover... so I'm happy today |
Sounds like you had a good year, Davros. You didn't, by chance, celebrate the arrival of the new year at Gloucester Park, did you? *Edit: Nevermind. I missed the bit about the BBQ.
Good Bits: -Knucklin' down and acquiring a home that i can call mine, landlords excepted. No more sharing. No more compromises. No dependants. If this don't give me some focus for achieving other goals, nothing will. Having it finalised and decked out for living before the time i allowed myself (25th bday) was just sweet. Stuff like that doesn't usually work with me. -New Year's Eve at Gloucester Park. I've had a bit of an aversion to crowds this year. Getting old i guess. I haven't been to a single concert or large event all year. But damned if i was gonna ruin another New Year's Eve. So i went with a few mates and had a ball. Best fireworks display i've ever seen too. -Ironworks. After a two year hiatus (sp?) where i couldn't log on to IW, a format or five - for different reasons - saved the day. Didn't realise how much i missed this place 'til i got back. That was around June some time. -Clearing old debts and making positive steps to stay in front. It's ferkin good to get something other than debt mail in the box. Erm, actually that's the only snail mail i get... Somebody write me a letter! -Winning first division for the $32 million New Year's Lotto. Of course, the shops aren't open 'til tomorrow, so i can't check the tickets just yet. But it's gonna happen... Bad Bits: -Getting dumped the day before Valentine's. I guess i should be thankful she didn't wait one more day, eh? But i'd still bought her a present which i had to offload on someone. So i gave it to her best girly friend at the time. -Getting lax with achieving my Trade Qualifications. Shoulda been done by now. And i should be out there somewhere earning big dollars. No excuses. But i did make it my resolution for this year. -Getting screwed by, and losing a good friend to the mental condition resulting from her heroin addiction. I now know that professionals deal with this stuff for a reason. But if you're doing what you can to help them when they cut you... Well, it hurts. -Not making any significant progress with my own habits. A councillor, yes. But beyond that?.. Oh well, i guess that's why i'm still goin strong after New Year's. ;) [ 01-02-2006, 09:39 AM: Message edited by: Sever ] |

Great thread!
Highlights - I celebrated my first anniversary with my husband in the same hotel we had our wedding reception and first night as a married couple. - Got to see my parents a few times which is tough since they move from one side of the country to the other with the seasons and are rarely around when you call! -Got a nice Christmas bonus at work. Gift certificate at a local mall that has enough variety of stores and restaurants that I won't have any trouble spending it! :D -Hubby got his current job, with wonderful benefits. He loves the job, which makes me very happy! - Got to visit some dear friends who live a few hours away, several times more than we have in the past and I'm hoping to keep this up in the new year as we miss them and they have an incredibly sweet 4 year old who's growing up fast! -Discovered Sacred, thanks to LadyZ! :D - The neighbor kid across the street got his license. Yes, it's a highlight because now he's only home half the time and most of that is sitting in his car or the house, instead of paintballing people's houses! - We finally got an electric lawnmower that's powerful enough to get our weed-field...err. lawn, mowed properly. :D The less than wonderful - Hubby was out of work a few months. We're still working on catching up financially. - Lost Longfellow, a kitty my best friend and I inherited when a friend of ours died almost 10 yrs ago, to cancer last month. :( - My brother in law went to Iraq and has missed most of the first year of his newborn son's life. But we expect him to come home sometime in the next few months, so 2006 is already better in that respect! |
Hey, congratuations, Q'alooaith!!!
My year was fabulous. I moved out of my family home and am living in a unit with my cat, which is so great. It is so close to uni, which really saved me this year being at uni so much including evenings and weekends - I would not have coped with having to do the 50-60min commute every day as well as doing so many hours at uni. Plus I really like living on my own, although without Tuppy I would get a bit lonely I think! My mum comes to visit me every week and we talk on the phone all the time, my brother comes for dinner, and my dad has been fantastic, fixing stuff and painting and putting pictures up and stuff. So that was a huge highlight. Also I started practicing for real as a psychologist this year, doing my first internship at the uni clinic. This was amazing. I have worked for so long now on the hope that this is what I want to do, so to find that yeah, it IS what I want to do and I am actually good at it as well was fantastic. Because I've been a student for so long I've certainly felt a sense of accomplishment when I get good marks or something, but to actually succeed and enjoy doing the thing that is what I want to do as my career is so satisfying, and relieving as well! There were definitely a lot of times when I was frustrated and angry, because we had a bad situation at the clinic where the school accepted way too many interns and didn't take appropriate steps to make sure there were enough clients, so there was a lot of twiddling thumbs, but while I certainly didn't find that fun at the time, coming out the other side I am only remembering the good bits. I also made a lot of great new friends and had a lot of fun. Broke a couple of hearts... :D On the downside, working in a service industry you definitely see the thoughtless rude side of people. The number of times I sat waiting for people to come to appointments who just didn't bother letting me know that they weren't coming. Also people are late all the time! What is with people being late??!! It is like it's becoming acceptable or even desirable to be late to things. Having been brought up by someone who is unfailingly punctual, I have a hard time tolerating lateness from others, and really, I shouldn't have to! But all in all, a great year! |
The good stuff: bought a house and got a promotion.
The bad stuff: the car died (we had to buy another one). |
Started going out with my girlfriend
Learned to drive I love Malaysia... It's so easy You'd all better watch out when I get to university in another country :D |
I had a great year until about ... the day before new years', at which point my house flooded and my computer got submerged. Until then, it was *great* - I went to school, got a job, had fun, lived with my family, played games, did LAN's, my friend hosted a D&D campaign (which is still going, ebberon setting), and read a bunch of books.
Overall pretty good, yeah. |
