Any of you thinking to raid the super market or any other store, better forget it unless you're first. Remember the pictures of New Orlenes. Those were hit within hours of the huricane.

Electricity? Well, I know how to make batteries, too, so I wouldn't have to worry too much about that. They might not be the strongest ones, but they would deliver electricity. Making a fire? Yes, I can do that too, either with primitive tools or, by raiding any hardware/medical supply store, using a magnifying glass and some sunlight. I suppose you could also beat some malleable metal into a parabolic shape and polish it, and then your reflector would double as a cooker, too. </font> |
I wouldn't be much use in your doomsday scenario, Felix. I assume that your answers are all yes. I'm studying electrical engineering, which may not be much use if all the power goes off, but the skills I’m learning are one hell of a lot more useful to today's *real life* society, and will make me a lot of money to boot :D I'm perfectly happy not to know the intricacies of rubbing two boy scouts together to get fire...
Actually, we used to have an open fire in our old house, and I did get quite good at building and lighting a fire. It got a bit draughty though, the secret was to strike three matches at once if you diddn't want them to go out. [ 12-30-2005, 03:08 PM: Message edited by: Melcheor ] |
