I think Halloween, like most hollydays, is dead.

Back when I was young, you'd see people all over, you couldn't walk a street without running in at least 10 trick or treaters. Most houses were decorated, and candies were plentifull. I'd get back with bags full.

Now these days, I'm surprised if I get visited by 10 people. If two houses on the same streets have people giving candies it's considered luck. :(

We got nearly 60 kids in a few hours yesterday. LOL,and like LZ we had one mother too, but I think she was with a group of people and her kid didn't come up with her or something. Probably one of the infants so mom was eating all the candy anyway! [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I did collect some candy...and I hung out with some real dames...'cuz that's how I roll :D

We had more kids this year then last. And our pumpkin made it through. Bonus last year poor thing was killed off to early in the night.

So we had about 70 kids. Sydney was dressed as a princess and Hudson was a dolphin.

Was fun for me and the kids. We went up to one house and Sydney yells at the top of hear 3 1/2 year old voice trick or treat. To bad the door was all ready open. [img]smile.gif[/img] So the lady gives Sydney a handfull of candy and then she seen Hudson down in the stroller I had him in. Was a little chilly so I had him covered up in a few blankets. She yells to her Husband to come and see Hudson and then pulls down his blanket and started to stuff him like a turkey full of candy. The whole time she is saying how cute he is. I finaly had to say that he is not eating chocolate and that he had enough. Was to funny. ;) So had a good time. I had to tell Sydney that she was not allowed to sleep with her candy and it would be there for her the next day. Minus a few pieces for dads lunch. [img]graemlins/hehe.gif[/img]

I dressed up wearing all black and some camo makeup so I couldn't be seen/recognized and went out egging houses and cars. Aaaaaahhhhh. Gotta love the holidays.

Yeah and that's the thing - it's not a tradition here so hopefully it will never catch on. When I used to read american kids books I always thought it sounded like fun, but it's never been something Aussies have done so the only reason it would become relevant here would be a blatant marketing attempt - which [img]graemlins/idontagreeatall.gif[/img] . The only good thing I think might happen if we started Halloweening would be that it would delay the Christmas decorations in the shops until November...

Newer neighborhoods, at least over here, are swarmed with little guys. The streets are just littered with them. 2 boxes of 500 candies last year, and we had to turn out the lights... we only gave out 2 candies per kid too. This year though, since I'm in an older neighborhood with less kids, we got 1 person ring the doorbell, but since we didn't have any candy we didn't answer.
