Really though, I have no need for it and just as soon be rid of it.

LOL again @ Animal! :D

Variol, what he said, is your answer actually...

Powertoys is a program that gives your Win XP flexibility and extra customization. There's an option there...

Variol (Farseer) Elmwood 12-11-2004 09:08 AM

Could you post the link for me Bahamut? I'm lousy at finding things like that.

Thanks for the replies
But would I have a password if I wanted to sign in automatically?
I already have Powertoys, and that does not serve this purpose.
thanks andrewas, but it didn't work, but I can live with a "down" key.

Callum 12-11-2004 10:02 PM

No, no password if you signed in automatically.

Animal 12-12-2004 03:02 AM

Yes, you would still have a password with automatic logon.

LennonCook 12-12-2004 03:08 AM

<span style="color: lightblue">If you wanted automatic login, but didn't want a password necesarily, then that function in the Powertoys would serve no purpose.
Try this sometime: disable powertoys, remove your password, reboot. If there's only one account, Windows XP logs you in automagically.

Callum 12-12-2004 03:09 AM

Seriosuly? But if you sign in automatically... then it doesn't ask for your password. So in effect, you don't really have one.

LennonCook 12-12-2004 03:20 AM

<span style="color: lightblue">Except that you do. It would simply bypass your password on boot. Meaning, you can still lock your computer or switch user, and in those cases you will need to explicitly provide your password. It might seem more than a little ridiculous, but some people have alot of use for this behavior.
