Halflife 2 will be easily replaced by Halflife 3, but BG is irreplacable - a perfect masterpiece that cannot be recreated without harming its reputation.

Still, HL2 owns.

Have you played Baldur's gate 2 recently?

It's a good game, I myself have lost a month or so's worth of hours playing that game :D

but...

The graphics are dated, the interface clunky and ugly compared to what I'm accustomed to now. One of the greatest gaming experiences of my lifetime yes, but time has not been kind to the game IMO (graphics aren't everything, but sometimes it's better to have nostalgic memories of a game than to play the same game later and have those memories brought screaming and kicking into reality :D )

Half-life 2 is an "Edge- 10 out of 10" game. Every previous game to recieve a 10 out of 1o from Edge (Goldeneye, Zelda-Ocarina of time, Gran Turismo, Halo, Soul Calibur, Super Mario 64) is still as playable and appealing today as the day it was released. They were revolutionary, I trust Edge's judgement on the matter and believe that like the other games I just listed I will be playing it for many yeas to come over and over again.

This ain't just another FPS, this is the FPS genre rulebook being torn to pieces by a red paint chipped crowbar. :D

...also yes technically this should be in the other forum, and I apologise. :D

*3d shooter party pooper alert*

Put all the great physics you want in there, if you don't react substantially when you take a bullet, the physics aren't THAT good ;)

It's probably fun though. I generally only play tactical shooters like the Rainbow 6 series. Raven Shield benefitted by using the Unreal 2003 engine (I think), so I can't wait to see the non-half-life games that come out of the engine.

agreed.

I still say there's no such thing as the greatest game, because for that to happen, you gotta satisfy people's tastes in all categories, shooting, fighting, rpg, and so forth. Now, there are revolutionary games such as FF7 and Chrono Trigger, but thats about it

I do hope so, but we will see, they said the same thing about DOom 3and although it was good, it was still lacking a few things...
Now that's a game that fits this topictitle...Doom 3 definitely sucks. You can describe that game in one short sentence: repetative, and VERY predictable.

Certainly the game of the decade so far, probably will be at the end of it as well. Did anyone else spend a few bucks upgrading their machine for this gem?

Game of the year? Decade? As far as FPSs go, let me ask one thing:

What about Halo 2?

Unless we're talking PC only here...nvm, lol
