I been noticed this too, SecretMaster. It appears that the board doesn't always update the post counter on all posts. If you've just changed avatar, you can even find old post with the old avatar still on it. Always check your latest post for the correct post count.

I know that is sometimes laggs to update post counts, but you can do it manually in the settings.
