Ha! The NY/NJ/CT area only has extremely good (but competitive) drivers. We retire our bad ones to Florida at age 55...
PS- if you think driving in Florida is dangerous, try eating dinner in a restaurant 4pm. You'll be beaten about the head & neck with walkers and canes. |
Yeah, they drive like crap mostly here. *I* am from a bigger City in Kentucky (Louisville) a huge city, and yeah, turn light arrows are silly for most turns.
It's mainly 3 things: 1. People Retiring here (older folk) 2. Over population when the roads are still small 3. Tourists Me? Hell, I get where I'm going just fine, and zip past those slow pokes. Here is my view: Whatever the speed limit is, DOUBLE it, and that is the Z-Speed rule! :D *Not responsible for you getting tickets if you follow these instructions. |
If Dave Barry is any indication, Miami isn't full of slowpokes...
"Green light- Go Yellow light- Accelerate Red light- Accelerate while gesturing" (Actually, sounds like New Jersey and New York to me...) |

You would find yourself at home here in Italy... |
Obviously I was aggravated yesterday lol, Gainesville sucks! Luckilly I'm not there too often. Yea Z I noticed everyone drives way over the speed limit EXCEPT in the little towns. I do as the locals do there and do the limit Cant we send all the retired people to Canada? Or would that be like a declaration of war? hehe

mmm theres good reasons why people do those things in florida.
waiting a few seconds after the light changes to green before accelerating can save you from an accident since a lot of people tend to do that accelerate when yellow thing and end up doing 60 across an intersection with a red light. slowing down when coming towards green lights is also sometimes a good idea - a few lights i frequent change from green to red too fast for one going well over the speed limit to stop in time. i tend to try to slow down to the speed limit around those particular lights and of course hit the gas right after i pass the light if it didnt change on me. as for the grocery carts....well my mom actually is a cause of many grocery cart accidents and its usually cuz shes staring at the grocery list instead of watching where shes going. |
I would have to say that Australian drivers are not that bad, I'm on my L's (Learners, going for my provisional licence soon) and so people are either nice or just avoid me alltogether, but anyway, I was driving through Sydney a few weeks ago on one of those roads where there are two roads on either side of a fence, each with two lanes, both going the same way, when suddenly as we went over a slight hill, just as i moved back into the left lane, some crazy person is driving towards us in the right lane! (which is supposed to be going the other way) if i had left it any longer, we would have hit each other when we were both doing around 80km/h!
And you know what the funniest thing is? She was a Volvo driver By the way I mean no offence to Women or volvo drivers, I like Both very much Especially the "Bloody Volvo driver" adds. |
Drive here... you can drive like the wind... hehehe :D
Problem is... everybody here are also speed and sensible freaks... so it's more frustrating... |
