To develope my post: My area has a really low divorce rate, but an incredible rise in juvenile crime. It's peer pressure, bloody pikeys.

Pikeys are travellers. Used to be called gypsies and like to consider themselves gypsies.

Gypsies in Britain used to pay their way. Collecting stones from fields to save the plough from damage and other such menial stuff. I had a very old friend (was in his eighties) and an original gypsy...told me some wonderful stories...

Pikeys like to live with the romanticism that they are old gypsy folk......they are thieving bastards by and large. Roaming from place to place in their caravans, leaving tons of shit and waste in their wake until forcibly moved on by the law most times. Can't speak for them all, there's good and bad in every group.

You have a wrong perception of pikeys. They are not wealthy white kids at all. True to say that many pikeys have some money and wealth (go to an underground prize fight, they bet thousands of £££) but their money is made from theft quite often. Very hard to tie down the term pikey and quite who/what they are....are..

A pikey is a pikey regardless of age and I've never known them lurk on street corners, more thieves in the night....nor are they suburban....sorry.

I live in south east London *see location-D'OH!* and yeah, they lurk around on street corners where I live-maybe a difference of location? It's all so petty and stupid :rolleyes: but they still annoy me.

Like I said, in my area, the pikeys go to a grammer school, so they have to be at least moderatly wealthy (I have to go to the same school as them, what a bundle of joy), though you maybe right 'cause I've noticed the REALLY bad ones go to comps, or don't go to school at all, which isn't a sign of poverty, just a sign of bloody ignorance in the later case.

Urban pikeys are probably MUCH more sinister than my suburban ones, so let's just say it's a difference in perspective-just know that if a group of teenagers are at a bus stop and a load of pikes go past, they shut the heck up and wait for them to go past before speaking again.

I did see a "grown-up" pike the other day, pissing in somebody's garden. I just thought, "And this is what our kids wanna grow up to be...?"

Yep, stolen money. The pikes in my school, fifteen or sixteen years old, already have a good mobile phone trade going.
