i USUALLY would say a sorcerer (them being my favorite ;) ) but since you allready have 2 casters (edwin and jan) then i would say monk.

But about the sorcerer option: In my Opinion, one of the best classes is the combination Fighter/thief/wizard. Moderate difficulty, but at level 12 and up... doesn't get any better. This character, at level 14 in all underclasses managed to kill the shadow Dragon, equipped with the Roseblade, a cloak of non Detection, a robe of the apprenti, etc. (okay, I was almost dead when I fired three bolts of polymorphing at him... )
