I did the same as Philip; just blasted a couple o' fireballs in their direction, to make them all badly injured, and then took em out. Maybe gaining a few levels is better, cos these guys can be very tough, if you have a low-level party like you do.

Ok i decided to go to De'Arnise, but im stuck ive lowered the drawbridge and now i dont know what to do, ive been everywhere you can go how do you open the doors that need a key?

Once you've lowered the drawbridge you have to go back inside and help the guards kill some trolls. Make sure you kill the dogs outside and collect there dog meat. Then go back inside and head for the kitchen use the stove in there to make dog stew(click on it four times). You'll need the dog meat later in the cellar. Now you have to go upstairs. There's stairs in a room beside the kitchen on the ground floor. Once your upstairs look for the libarary in there on a shelf you'll find a key for some doors. Now explore the rest of the floor the exit to the cellar is located in Nalias Aunts room. One note about this floor is make sure you explore it thouroughly because there is alot of secret doors and one leads to a fight with a guard with one of the flail heads.
I hoped that helped if your still stuck say and I'll give you a link to a walktrough. |
There are 2 main things that make the Sewer Fight difficult:
1) It's a well-balanced party, with 2 tough Dwarven Fighters protecting a good Cleric, Archer, Mage, and 1 more person I'm forgetting. Draug Fea and Tarnor have good Saves, and they both take a lot of damage before they finally go down. 2) The game hides the more important spells from you: Things like Lower Resistance, Pierce Shield and Breach. Because of this, Gaius (the Mage) is really tough, because you can't get through his protections before he casts Chaos on your party. My 2 ways around this: 1) Break up their group--get them to come at you one at a time if you can, although really this is abusing the AI. ("You guys stay here, I'll rush out into the darkness by myself.") 2) Wait until you've got the anti-protection spells I mentioned. Alternatively, start the fight by planting a Short Sword between Gaius's kidneys. |
Quote:
Breach Level 5 wizard spell, removes combat protections such as shield, protection circle, resist fear, protection from fire/cold/acid/electricity/magic energy, fireshield, protection from the elements, protection from magic energy, protection from normal missles, protection from normal weapons, protection from magic weapons, stoneskins, ironskins, armor, ghost armor, spirit armor, absolute immunity, improved mantle, and mantle; making it one of the most important spells in the game. AVAILABLE AT: Adventurer's Mart (Ribald's store) in Waukeen's Promenade, or can be picked up for free in a chest in the first level of De'Arnise hold. Dispel Magic Level 3 wizard spell; removes magical effects upon anyone within the area, including effects from spells, potions, and certain magical items, but not the magical item itself. The base chance of Dispel Magic being successful is 50%. If the level of the caster is higher than the creator of the effect being dispelled, +5% per level is added to the success rate. If the level of the caster is lower, 10% per level is subtracted from the success rate. AVAILABLE AT: One of the chests in Irenicus' Dungeon (Oytugh room, 1st level), Galoomp the Bookkeeper (Waukeen's Promenade, just north of 7 Vales), Adventure Mart (Waukeen's Promenade). NOTE: "Remove Magic" is the better alternative to Dispel Magic, as Dispel Magic will affect both your party and the opponents, while Remove Magic will only affect opponents. Remove Magic is available from Galoomp the Bookkeeper and the Adventure Mart (from the spell seller in the very back). Spell Thrust Level 3 wizard spell, removes all spell protections of 5th level and lower; those being minor spell deflection, minor globe of invulnerability, spell immunity, and minor spell turning. AVAILABLE FROM: A chest in the 2nd level of De'Arnise hold (in the small room just before you find Glacias). Also, one of the Shadow Thieves being hunted by Hareishan the Vampire (during a midnight encounter) will drop the spell; just loot the corpses when Hareishan's done her work. Secret Word Level 4 wizard spell; removes one spell protection of 8th level and lower. The spells thus affected are: minor spell turning, minor globe of invulnerability, spell immunity, spell deflection, spell turning, and spell shield. AVAILABLE AT: Adventure Mart (spell seller in the back). Lower Resistance Level 5 wizard spell. When cast upon a target creature, this spell will lower the magic resistance of the creature by 10% + 1% per level of the caster. The effect is cumulative for multiple castings of the spell. The effects of the spell are not removed by either Dispel or Remove magic; there's no way to cancel the effects until it wears off. AVAILABLE AT: Adventure Mart (spell seller in the back). Pierce Magic Level 6 wizard spell. (NOTE: you will be unable to cast this spell except from a scroll if your mage is level 11 or lower). The first effect of the spell is to lower the target's magic resistance by 1% per level of the caster. The second is that it will remove one spell protection of 6th level or lower on the creature. Spells this affects are: minor spell deflection, minor spell turning, spell deflection, minor globe of invulnerability, spell immunity and globe of invulnerability. AVAILABLE AT: The blacksmith in Trademeet, after completing the Shadow Druid quest (Cernd's quest) and the Dao Djinn quest. Hope this helps find some of the more elusive abjuration spells in the game. Oops, one other thing: Gaius usually likes to cast "Mislead" or "Shadow Door", so make sure to have a "Remove Invisibility" or "True Sight" spell on hand. If you have Keldorn in your party (he's just west of the encounter and you can avoid them by going around another path to get to him), he can cast "True Sight" spell 3 times a day with no casting delay; it's one of his special innates. Also: have your cleric (if you have one) memorize a few "Chaotic Commands" if s/he is a high enough level and pop those on your main fighters so they don't get Chaosed or dominated. Since Gaius is fond of using "Horror" as well, put a "Remove Fear" spell on your party before entering combat. Cheers, -Sazerac [ 07-02-2002, 11:27 AM: Message edited by: Sazerac ] |
