since my mum is doing the shopping, should be more than $2000 per month.

£60 a month. Since I'm currently unemployed, it's bargain bin baked beans for me :(

Around 400 $US a month I think. But that is only food. Counting some other necessities it would probably be about 500 a month.

$100-$200 US for a family of four.

No, I'm serious.

Around 700 € per month for a family of 6 (sometimes 7, sometimes 8...long story)

So let's say 700 € per month for an average of 7 people

That includes food and grocery stuff as well.

Let me check (looking in the newspaper...hmmm)... yeah, we can say that 700 € = 700 $ us.

When I was living as a single guy, I spent around $200 to $300 per month, as a couple Colleen and I spend roughly that much on food and household consumables about $300 a month for her dog supplies and roughly about $200 on dining out.....we waste far too much I think and once we have actually merged our two households we will be trimming those budgets.

thoran, where do u shop for food???
My wife does all the shopping, and this does include misc. and sundries (detergents, cleaning stuff and other household goods) so I'm sure that adds to the expense. We don't really eat any processed, frozen, or pre-prepared foods, pretty much everything is fresh. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, meats, cheeses and grains.

Seems like a lot to me too but I've been assured that it's a reasonable amount given the types of food we eat.

I take it from this that it's going well with Colleen then? Nice one, all the best

Hmm, I have budgeted about $120 per week, so about 500 a month, for 4. That includes all grocery items, and the occasional doggy treat. Once the 2 year old is out of diapers, we can drop about $15 a week on diapers and wipes.
