Yeah, I saw on AccessHollywood or some other such show an interview with S. Tyler. He said Em caught him backstage at a concert, said he had an idea to do a rap to "Dream On" ('cause he too likes the music we all cut our teeth on) and simply begged. They were happy to help him out.
Tyler really supports rap, and in this interview talked about how the spoken word is a truly beautiful thing and that the rap genre has worked to reawaken it as an art form. So, I wouldn't feel betrayed if they didn't. ;) [edit:] Oh, and it's a good song, too. I don't know if it's getting airplay now or what makes you comment on it now, but I've thought it was a great song since I bought The Eminem Show forever ago. Hey, I heard it on WBCN, one of Boston's many rock stations, as well as on a "behind the music" show on VH1. This was last summer. Sorry I don't have a smoking gun, but I did see film of Steven Tyler singing new vocals in the studio for the song.

stephen tyler and crew DEFINITELY rerecorded their parts specifically for the release of Eminem's album. So if you don't like it, don't blame Eminem, go straight to the source and go after Aerosmith.

Lies? Subterfuge? Who knows. I like M&M's stuff and love Aerosmith's, but this just sounds like a crap DJ in an empty bar mixing two unrelated records. It sounds like only a token effort was made to merge them. The reason why it came to my attention was because Australia's Triple J have been playing it recently. |
