Its easy to kill kangaxx. FIrst up whack kangaxx the lich and try and lead him over to the door. Then leg it. Save.
Use a Protection from magic scroll on you best fighter and give him your best +4 weapon. Give him an oil of speed. Go back down there. You want your protected char to be positioned so kangaxx beats up on him, so if he chooses someone else, reload and swap characters around till you get it right. From now on you have ten minutes to whack kangaxx before the protection wears off. @Radek - why were you using a prot from magic scroll on the enemy? You want to make him *harder* to kill? You use it on your own tank. |
Ring of the Ram (from Togerias)can damage Kangaxx. He's not immune to it and it does full damage to him (about thirty). So its a good way to start the fight. Oh, and welcome to the board, sorry I forgot to wish you in my previous psot. :D

Hmm, weird. I'm pretty sure Sunray worked on the Demi-Lich in WK...

But remember kangaax is a particularly deadly demi-lich, and the demi-lich by its very nature is prone to varying between examples. Its not a natural creature but a result of its own actions - and 1000-year old mages can get very inventive. |
First: Sunray DOES work...maybe not as well as on some other undead, but it does work.
Second: If you have a berserker fighter, the Berserk state automatically guards against Imprisonment, Maze, Confusion, Charm, etc. Either your main character if he's a beserker, or Minsc, or Korgan, can do this. Have them go into berserker mode when attacking. Third: You do need +4 weapons or better to hit. HOWEVER: there's a spell called "Phantom Blade" (Mage spell level 5 or so) that will strike him. Also, if you wait until Chapter 6, you should be able to forge the Wave halberd which does mondo damage on him. Crom Faeyr does as well (+5), or you can have a Paladin (yourself if your main character is one, or otherwise Keldorn) whack on him with Carsomyr (+5) Have all your characters hasted and protected to the nines before you start the battle (the first one with Kangaxx, since you have absolutely no time in between to prepare for the demi-lich). If your mages can cast Spell Sequencer, have them sequence some deadly spells against him that will go off at the same time. Good luck! -Sazerac |

Prepare for the Super-Munchkin, Completely Cheesy, Almost-to-Embarrased-to-Mention - method of Killing Kangaxx.
I used this when I was soloing an assassin. First I pickpocketed the ring of Ram from Tolgarias. Then, after collecting the bones, I set about 6 traps at the top of the room, then about 6 more where he first appears. When he appeared and turned red he was instantly killed by the traps I set by the sarcaphagus. Then, when his Demi-lich form popped up, (but before he could cast Imprisonment) I used the Ring of Ram to push him up into the top corner where the other six traps were waiting. Killing him, of course. All I had to do was clean all of the cheese off of the ring, and it was all mine! |
Cheese? I don't think so...unless using the natural abilities of an assassin is "cheesy." At least you didn't stand out of his LoS and fire cloudkills at him (wouldn't have worked anyway!)
-Sazerac Oh, and one other thing...Protection from Magic DOES work...about the only thing that is resistant to the Death Keen. "S" |

Do the methods of killing a demilich from D&D work in this game?
It been forever since dying in Tomb of Horrors so at a guess... spells: Dispel Evil Halt Undead Holy Word Shatter Then Again, I don't think these spells are even in the game... Pretty sure the Mace of Disruption should work too. Then again, this game was written by computer gamers not paper and pencil RPGrs |
