"Bet you wouldn't say that to someone with Carsomyr in their hands "

er actually I WOULD, provinding of course I had my char from BGtob, besides, Calaethis would just hide in the shadows, snipe the paladin, then engage in hand to hand. that burning sword +5.

Paladins piss me off. In my Bg1 game I picked up Ajantis and thought he was alright. Until I got into battle, he kept freiking dieing on me. I lost so many good Items just by putting them on him. The only thing they're good for is killing and their charisma.

you dont necesarily have to be a paladin to use the holy avenger +5..
dual class you fighter in to a thief and get the use any item ability:)... it works great!!! but u also have to have ToB installed:(

1- Anomen is not a paladin.

2- Paladins being "self righteous bastards" is a ridiculous stereotype, in the way that all stereotypes are ridiculous. Itīs like saying all dwarves are drunkards or all halflings are thieves.

3- I happen to like paladins very much. Even if they can sometimes be judgemental, all the paladins I know of are decent characters who try to help others rather than take advantage of them. I like playing as a paladin and being generally heroic, and I donīt think that makes me a "self righteous bastard" in any way.

Paladins come in many forms, like in BG2 or in Fallout 1&2. They seem to have poor judgement, as it is mostly clouded or prejudiced. Being purely good is at times as bad as being purely evil. At some points in your life you'll be confronted with the fact that you cannot be ALWAYS completely true to your alignment. It seems that all creatures, except for paladins, that tend towards a good alignment can make a decision that defiles that alignment a little bit, for the sake of a good outcome. Paladins cannot. They SWORE their allegiance to the good side and cannot divert from that path. So to actually make a point here: Planescape: Torment's alignment system should have been incorporated in BG2.

Do you know how stereotypes are formed? BY most of the group acting in a certain way? and I for One have NEVER met an 'un-self-rightous paladin.' of course, this may say a lot for my exp. the paladin in BG1 was ok (as paladins go), but the rest of them are soo annoying. gimme and elf anyday.

I disagree. Stereotypes are formed by one or two of the group acting in a certain way, and being very in-your-face about it, while the rest of the group go off and do something else, and not go out of their way to make the point that they are doing that. Saying all paladins are self-rightous, is like saying all Brits are very prim and proper.

Calaethis Dragonsbane 06-06-2002 06:15 AM

perhaps; but amoen was pissing me off that day. besides, there are 'fallen paladins' too, and somehow I doubt they are self-rightous, probably quite the opposite. and somehow I doubt that all brits are 'prim and proper', even tho i'm a 'brit' myself. Im not *that* natieve
