Good for you Lian, and welcome to IW

OKAY, I thought that the first post didn't go thru, so did another one, and NOW I can't delete my post?? It says only ADMINS can? When did this start?

I can honestly say that I've enjoyed every job that I've had as long as I've been there.

On the other hand, I have changed my career on several occasions.

As I've grown, my interests have changed, and my responsibilities have changed. Right out of college, I could work for less than I need now, so working in game development was a great choice. I did what I liked, and loved the folks I worked with. My expenses were minimal, which helped, since the pay was also.

When I've worked for, or contracted to, a company, I've always chosen environments that I would like, and be comfortable in. When situations changed, I've always been able to move on happily.

Only recently, last year, have I been in a situation where I felt taken advantage of by a large company. It is also one of the rare times I've been employed, rather than self-employed.

As Charean pointed out, right now we are self-employed, (My usual preference) but we are trying to turn it into a business, ie. train others to do what we do and build a team.

I dont really like my job (framing houses/carpenter) but it pays ok. Not a fortune but ok. The main benefit is working with funny people, it can get pretty hilarious on a job site. Although its not for the sensitive, everybody gives a lot of shit to each other. Another benefit is there is no corporate crap to put up with. Rules are very minimul, if there are any lol.
And MagiK I dont think those knees will stop you from doing push-ups. Do 20 RIGHT NOW MISTER!!!!!!

Welcome Lian! Keep up hope! Something else will come along. If it keeps you and your daughter feed, then that's the important thing! Unless your family is willing to support you, while you work to improve yourself, then I don't think they have a dog in that hunt!

LoA, I'm still looking for that job that supplies you with free beer!
I hope to find it soon, otherwise I'll keep doing what I do!

Awww--thanks, guys, for making a newbie feel all warm and fuzzy. *blushes* Now, can someone tell me how to get one of those pretty moving pictures in my signature? I realize this is off-topic (see, I learn fast, right?), so you can PM me. Thanks!

Hi, Lian, WELCOME TO IRONWORKS I read somewhere that most exotic dancers are single mothers. There is an organization here in Dallas to help them get out of that.
