Moni is right... if these white stuff is like covering the goldfish and all that... then you have to have it checked ;)

Moni, it is a goldfish no doubt about that. I think its one of the original 5 we bought (one got sick and was taken by a cat presumely), like I said earler goldfish breed like rabbits. So I am not really sure, could be one of the first cult.

There is a white fungus that goldfish can get but it usually starts around their eyes and nose and then works over the back of their bodies...you can definitely tell it is not normal and they appear to be bleeding around the edges of it...by the time they are fully covered by it, they are dead.

I was wondering if the fish might have an internal illness of some kind that would make it turn pale. If the fish changed colors I'd definitely be calling someone...if it has always been white and seems healthy enough I wouldn't worry about it...some of our own goldfish had patches of white scales here and there that made them looked spotted and they were almost 8 years old (and healthy) when I accidentally killed them all.

Well I kinda take that back about the changing colors part...iut just dawned on me that our own goldfish babies were black and they turned gold as they matured...I guess what I meant was if the fish was mature enough not to change colors and it did, you might want to call someone. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Whoa... my goldfishes before were like two years old... (these were the fancy ones so their life expectancy was shorter), and we were damn proud... but then on feeding time I turn off their filter because it sucks up all the food... on that night I forgot to turn it back on... well that's the end of the story...

I talked my brother into emptying our tank (with four 10" goldfish in it) to a level we could carry to school for show-and-tell when I was in first grade...they were my dad's pride and joy when he could put them out in the pond during the summer months...anyway, the teacher told me to leave them there over the weekend, that they would be OK when I could not find my brother after school to help me get the aquarium back home (he had forgotten about it, and me) and the janitor turned all the electricity off from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. Man, my dad was sad when he came home and heard about it. I still feel bad about it.

Dang... I just hate those... my fishies didn't die of neglect (well technically they did) but of stupidity... my mom was sad... they were great goldies... We got an Oranda, a Red Cap, Pearl Scales, and those kind and *poof*... it's sad... :(
