Scroll down to "Time To Apologize?" and you should be able to hear her say roses & fruitcake...right side of that article mentions fruitcake & roses.

The dictionary says "liberate - to set free." Doesn't say anything about setting up a government. I don't remember it used in that context when France was liberated in World War II. If she doesn't apologize, she is just copping out in my opinion.

OK, going by definition Liberate : to set at liberty : FREE; specifically : to free (as a country) from domination by a foreign power, they still aren't done yet.
Technically speaking, (lol, sorry) they won't be finished until the "foreign power" (the U.S.) leaves...looks like she's got some time to find that fruitcake that's been up in grandma's attic since the 1930's. [ 04-13-2003, 12:57 AM: Message edited by: Lil Lil ] |
I'm not holding my breath for her to apologize.
Monique, I am confused by your post. Do you think we a dominating Iraq? I see a difference in liberating and dominating. |
It's really hard to see where you could be confused by a definition or a remark made in reference to it when its there for reference. You seem to be so easily confused for someone with a higher education, but yet I see it happen so often. :( I'm sorry!
Going by the definition of liberation, we are liberating Iraq, however that process (technically) won't be complete until the interim government we put in place of Saddam and "his henchmen" is replaced by free elections by the Iraqi people. If you can't go that far with it, it still isn't done until the coalition is finished fighting resistance in all parts of the country and Tikrit ad Al Qaim have yet to be "liberated" of Saddam's rule and reign. Going by a definition of dominating... 1 : to rule or control 2 : to exert the supreme determining or guiding influence on 3 : to overlook from a superior elevation or command because of superior height or position 4 : to have a commanding or preeminent place or position in (name brands dominate the market) and in intransitive senses 1 : to have or exert mastery, control, or preeminence 2 : to occupy a more elevated or superior position it could be said that we are in numerous ways but as far as dominating the country through occupation goes (if that's what you meant), I would have to say at this point, no but you or anyone else is free to disagree with my opinion. To (hopefully) avoid further confusion: occupation: a: the act or process of taking possession of a place or area: seizure b: the holding and control of an area by a foreign military force c: the military force occupying a country or the policies carried out by it. Regarding Ms. Garafalo, giving her the benefit of the doubt doesn't mean that I will hold my breath to see if she does or that it will affect me in any way whatsoever if she doesn't, only that I give people the benefit of the doubt and let them show one way or the other how real they are. If it is a sin to withold judgement I am sure God will punish me for it. |
