Well i tried scandisc and it didnt fix anything. My friend thought i might b missing some command files, so he sent me PKUNZIP, ZIP, and UNZIP, but it still doesnt work. He said that if he knew what the patch changed the windows registry to, he could tell me how to do it. Anyone know?

If you're having the same problems when installing other applications I would guess your system (Windows?) may have some corrupt files. Windows 98 and up have a utility called system file checker which as the name suggests will check all required system files on your computer to ensure they are working well. Depending on your version, it may be located in different places, but System Tools would be a good folder to look in. If that doesn't work try putting the exact error message in a search engine such as google. I'm quite sure someone out there has had the same problem. It's not a hardware problem though, so don't worry about that.

In my opinion Windows 9x (95,98,98SE and ME) are quite unstable and really should be reinstalled every year to keep them clean and happy. If that's not possible good routine maintenance will keep things running reasonable well. If your not yet running a version of XP on a machine over 500MHZ, you should be. I used to reinstall 98SE every year because it became so garbled, but running XP Pro this is a fantastic operating system! Good luck getting the patch to work.

Actually this CPU is only half a year old, Win98. I did the system file checky thingy and all it came up with was setupx.dll...so i tried to restore it but it could find file...ok whatever! So im lost now :(
