Thanks to all the well-wishers! I'm tuning in here from Monroe, Louisiana tonight, in the heart of the piney woods of Northeast Louisiana, where I spent the first 23 years of my life before getting a mental aberration and moving to Denton, Texas. ;)

Lav & Binky: Absolutely nothing wrong with 56K....unless you've been on DSL for more than a year. ;)

Moraine: Louisiana is the closest you can get to France while still being in the United States! It's the only bilingual state whose second language is French, rather than Spanish. New Orleans is lovely, but I'm about 300 miles northwest of it right now. Hopefully I'll be able to go down there, maybe sometime this year.

I'll pass the good wishes back on to my stepdad. He'll get a kick out of it, although it's my mom who's the Internet junkie. Her birthday isn't until December, though. She's gone computer-happy; you know what she wanted (and I got her) for her Mother's Day gift? A 3D computer pinball game. A 70-year old lady playing computer pinball.
