i've read the book first,saw the movie about a year later. I don't know why, but the book beats the crap out of the movie. They just left too many things out of it

It's always what you can't see, that's in your imagination, that gives you the absolute creeps. That's why books are more effective that movies. What gives you the creeps in movies is the sound. If its done right, you'll s*:+ yourself.

I loved the book It. It's one of my favorites.

Well, they missed a bunch of sex scenes. Then they missed some random kid getting killed by a monster in a park, Stan meeting monsters in an old water tower, I also think that they missed the house in Lebolt street. Or did they remember that part? Too long since I saw the movie.

Oh and then they missed the psycho bastard kid named Patrick Somethingoranother, who caught live animals and locked them in a fridge till they died. Then one day when he opened it it was full of what was more or less flying leeches who flew out and sucked him almost dry. Then Pennywise dragged him off and ate him.

Lemme think... What else did they miss.... Generally just a lot of background that was cut out. And a lot of encounters that other less important characters had with Pennywise. And one where Pennywise was a mummy and was near to catching.... Bill I think it was, while he was crossing a bridge.

A lot of times where the bullies chased the main characters and almost caught them. Oh yes, they also missed the place where the large kid, Ben, kicked the main bully in the balls. Loved that scene. Someone else might be able to remember more than me.

hmm..the book is good but build s u and ends with a really lame ass ending in stephen king's style but yeah even so the book is waybetter than the film

Yeah, "It" has to be in the top three of King's work. The reason most, if not all of the sex was cut out was of course that It was shown on ABC. True the sex does play a key role in the children getting out of the sewers the first time, but you cant show that or even really hint at it on network TV. (Question, Does "It" now fall under the kiddie porn laws?) The mini-series format is something of a tradeoff when it comes to King. You get more of the detail into the film than you would if it was Hollywood-length, but you lose some of the more "adult" aspects

Anyone read Tommyknockers and then seen the movie... I can believe It is the same. The book rocked but the movie sucked. I've never Read it but I saw the movie... It didn't scare me much... it was a bit like Scream... With worse acting.

The book IS better, but the first half of the movie was pretty much perfect (IMHO). The young actors did a far better job than the adults. And Tim Curry was an excellent Pennywise.
