I think while it's a well-meaning idea, it's not practical. If people can't be bothered to type:

What would be even better is if someone wrote a ubbtag for it, then people could just use something like [ h ] and [ /h ] to hide text. Even easier, make it hide text and have a "display" button to show it.

It might make the idea more practicable - at present I can see half of the hidden text against the background, since it alternates. Which I never noticed before, now I come to think of it.
