I prefer the explanation of jeja-vu from the film Matrix... of course, that means this is all a dream, anyway... ;)

there is something called flashback, is it part of Deja-vu phenomenal?

Flashback is then you think back of something that have happened. Eg. you are telling a story about something that happened to you to a friend.
Deja vu, is something that is going to happen, or you have a feeling of something have happened before [ 01-09-2002: Message edited by: DiabloRex ]
|
Thanks Fljotsdale, I have been wondering what De ja vu really is for a long time, your explanation is the first that actually made any sense to me.(well I am kinda dumb )

I heard an interesting explanation of deja vu on radio yesterday. Tested and proved, too, apparantly. It goes like this: Bits of related information about the same thing take various pathways through the brain until they all meet together and are 'recognised'. There are specific time-linked 'rules' about which bits get to the recognition point first; sort of like 'a' is first, 'b' second etc. 'A' is always always on the path that gets that bit of info there first, so memory 'recognises' an event has occurred before 'b' (and the rest) get there. But sometimes 'b' gets to the point before 'a'. But memory has already logged 'b', so when 'a' arrives memory thinks it is seeing information about something it recognises as having happened before (about a millisecond before!), hence the feeling of deja vu. Interesting, huh? If you can follow what I wrote, that is... It is all from memory! Some of the things that have been described in this thread are not actually deja vu, by the look of it. Don't ask me what they are! No idea!

Ah yes, I can verify that this is indeed a current theory. I think I read about it in a science journal *puts geeky glasses on* |
