Congratulations! I've been lurking here on and off throughout the morning, holding my breath.

Even though my job gets really annoying, tenure is a blessing.

Thank god for that 'Pyhxie, we're all happy for you....even if we do feel sympathy for the others. Being only 15 (i've waited days to say that http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...miles/wink.gif) obviously ive never been made redundant, but people within my family have and i know the emotional and physical stress it can cause.

Good luck for the future http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

So...Asp...

Are you going to start looking for another home? Sounds like the proverbial "writing on the wall" to me. That's not a slam on your abilities or anything, but I used to work in the defense contracting industry...so I know all about layoffs and Mgmt. saying that's all the cuts that will be made. Ha! Yah, right... Bastards!http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-.../angryfire.gif

Best of Luck!http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...es/biggrin.gif

Asp,

Breathing a sigh of relief for you! I know exactly what you were going through!
Best Wishes To Your Future.
Hugs,
Moni

Fair points, the companies certainly in the shit and not out of it by a long stretch. This is actually the second layoff which probably paints an even worse picture. Short answer to your question is not yet. While I'm not as naive to think that this is the end of the story, I do think that it's probably the 'right' decision to get this company profitable again.

I enjoy what I do greatly and my lady works for the same company (still does). Most of our friends remain so we will remain. Long term plans are to move to San Diego anyway (to put my marine zoology degree back into use) so while another layoff would accelerate that plan, I'm keeping head down for a while and see how this plays out before putting that into action.

Asphyxiate, I have never been in that situation myself, but I still think I can imagine what you mean by a morbid atmosphere at your office right now.

And you yourself ? I could imagine that by now your first feeling of relief has been at least partly supplanted and overshadowed by one of sadness for and even some guilt towards your less fortunate co-workers. Sorry, sometimes I have a nasty tendency for psychologizing ...

Btw, for friends a simple "Ramon" will just do. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif
