The only really scary part in Bloodlines is the Hotel, but it's still seriously worth playing.

If you want some good scares, though, I suggest you go play older games. Some of the old FMV adventure games like Phantasmagoria and the 7th Guest are highly recommended, in my mind.

If you haven't played it already, go get Thief 1 the gold edition and Thief 2. Sometimes they come together in a pack. Should be bargain priced.

YOU WILL BE SCARED. Probably one of the most intense games you will play.

Aye man the thief series have a special place in my heart, I think I may still have them lying around somewhere, thanks for the reminder! :D

@ Dreamer System Shock 2 was a true classic aswell, you know of a reputable place I can download it?

@ Purple, man the days of the old horror FMV games were awesome, did you ever play the Blackstone Chronicles? that was some scary business! :D

Afraid I never did, Madman, but my favourite FMV adventure game was Rama, ever play that one? Awesome piece of work.

Can't say I did, it seems there are so many classics from that period tho I wonder how they'd play on a modern operating system..

Provided I can hunt some of them down it'd be well worth a shot going through them again.

Is it just me or did some of those games have so much more atmosphere (not counting some classic acting ;) ) than more recent games.

Yeah, no kidding, a lot of modern games are trying to coast by on a gimmick or pretty graphics(Looking at you, Prey, the Halo games and so many others.) rather than actual atmosphere and content.

Plus, I think the low graphical quality and such sometimes helped a bit. Players had to rely more on their own imagination to bring it all to life, it was more immersive, somewhere halfway between a book and a game.

Eternal Darkness if you own a Gamecube. I haven't had the pleasure (or displeasure, depending on how you look at it) of playing it myself, as I haven't been able to find a copy.

Have you tried the other Silent Hill games?

Kakero 01-30-2007 10:49 PM

Resident Evil
Silent Hill
Ju On
Fatal Frame

Just to name a few on my head.
