The Rogue was my favorite character. Using the bow took a little practice, along with learning to dance around, but once I got that straight, there was no question of using another character.
Sorcerer can be good once you get the mana shield spell (much nicer than D2, since it gives 100% protection). Keep in mind that inventory doesn't change much here. The blacksmith's stock only turns over when you gain a level, and it's random. You may want to save the game and see what he has, restoring if nothing worthwhile shows up. The witch's stuff changes every time you visit her after being in the dungeon, and it's also random, so you may want to save there, too.
Nightowl2
|

Right, so would the warrior be the best one to take for a Diablo beginner? Or Sorcerer?
Can the Sorcerer cast many spells? Was just wondering how they did it, if it was easy in battle? |
Warrior is easier for beginner. Just hack hack hack. Sorcerer is a bit like the rogue. Shoot move back shoot move back. But unlike rogue the sorcerer have mana problem.
Sorcerer can cast as many spell as rogue and warrior. It's just that their spells level are higher than those two. |
Any good tips I should know about when starting the game?

1. Keep all items that raises your intelligent, when you found a spell book that is in red colour, you can wear those items so that you can read the book.
2. You can keep your excess items in the ground. They will not disappear unless you start a new game. 3. Save first before indentifying an item. That way when your indentified item is cursed. You can reload back you game so that you won't waste 100 gold to identify it. 4. If you use warrior, do not use the skill "repair item" it will actually make the durability go lower. Go back to town and repair it from the smith instead. 5. Save first before going down the staircase, sometimes the game may 'sot' . 6. You can use bows for " supressing fire ". You may actually hit any monsters from far away without " activating it " 7. Items that grant resists will be usefull as you go deeper and deeper in the dungeon. |
Always fight from a doorway when you can; it will keep monsters from ganging up on you.
Some buildings have barred windows. You can shoot arrows through them and kill enemies without putting yourself in trouble. As you get deeper into the dungeon, you'll want magic protection; some spellcasting critters can be very nasty. On tough levels, open a portal in a safe (cleared) location so you can get out quickly if necessary.
Nightowl2
[ 07-28-2005, 12:13 PM: Message edited by: Nightowl2 ] |
The upper levels typically have items that aren't worth the price of identfying. That goes for cursed items, but many regular ones also.
Hold down the SHIFT key to attack without moving. Very useful. Later on, always keep a scroll of town portal ready, or learn the spell and make sure you've a mana potion in reserve. Also learn when to run. When you're not defending a doorway, keep moving around to keep spells, missiles and charging monsters from hitting you. Never do something that may trigger a trap if you're low on health. Don't bother dragging every last item on a level to town to make a profit, instead take the more expensive ones if you've room left to carry them and are going to the surface anyway. |
Cool, they sound good, ang keep them coming.
Is it worth getting game patches. I've installed the game and it's V1.00 should I patch to (I think) V1.09? Cheers |
Save your game first before touching any wards, tomes or wells. Reload if they gives you bad effect.
Shield can block melee, range and even spells. If you are of a high level, playing at an earlier floor of the dungeon will not yield you any experience. eg, a lv12 char will not gain any exp from floor 1 ~ floor 3 of the dungeon. Mana shield can be your secondary hp. Just make sure your mana isn't empty. Make sure you turn your sound effect on all the time so that you can hear your character "ah!". Which mean something is damaging him. I've played v1.00 and I don't see any bugs on it. Besides, my tips is based on v1.00. ;) |
