I am currently down were the Deva is located. Is it me or did the combat pick up drastically since meeting Ravel. I have been letting spells fly left, right and centre. That first part of the prison was a tough battle, had to buff as soon as I entered.

However, if you are doing the "mental" path through the game, the end of the game has very little fighting. In fact, the last 4 "combats" you can talk your way out of, gaining more xp and a better ending for doing so. However, if you are going the combat route, then you have your work cut out for you all the way through the end. Also, and this is a good hint for all characters, pay attention to what hurts the creatures you face. It is around this point that you really see a bunch of creatures that have resistances to certain types of weapons (blunt, piercing, and slashing). A good thing to do is to equip yourself with a variety of weapon types. I love the fist weapons for this reason. They do less damage, but there is at least one of each damage type out there, and they are fast to boot (good for disrupting spellcasters). Also, pay attention to how the opponent is slashing/stabbing/bludgeoning you, and you get a good idea of what kind of damage they are using. Use charms/items that protect against that type of attack when you are fighting a bigger monster (or a horde of little ones). |

I think if I played again I would drop Ignus for one of the other 2 fighters and do some more combat against nasty creaturs. Having Ignus in provided a cool battle at the end for me has we were both mages and probably would not have gotten the extra experience without having to fight him.

You can also use the book that Mantouk drops to increase spells available, but only with sacrifice (play with it and see). I also like to use the different methods to take out The Transcendent One. The Siege Tower gives you one method, but you can also beat him by actually discovering the correct answer to the question "what can change the nature of a man?". Of course, going the combat route limits you to the smackdown method (killing him) or the Siege Tower method (use the dagger). Unless, of course, you stock up on stat boosting items (always a good idea). |
