Well you can do at whatever level you like since the game uses scaled enemies. My first character didn't follow the main quest and I did the Kvatch quest around level 14 and that was one really difficult one. Flame argonauts, Daedra scouts and Daedra fighters and mages all over the place. The worst was in the follow up and I stood face to face -a bow using thieving character- with 3 Daedroths in the same room. 3 Daedroths later = no potions or scrolls!
My other charracter did it at level 3 and killed some scamps and flame 'nauts and had a happy time running around and fencing with his grossly heavy bastard sword and exclaimed some happy noices as the enemies fell before him. Another thing was that it was really difficult to movea round cause all the helping characters survived ;) |
I did Kvatch portal at level 22. Got storm atronachts, deadroths and xvilians (the naked blue devils, not sure of the correct spelling?) in the open, purely xvilians in the main tower. My tactics became launching few lightning bolts, chain summoning my own dremoras and backpedaling a lot. Quite a bit of work.
I'll see how the follow up quests will be today... [ 04-01-2006, 06:56 AM: Message edited by: The Merciful ] |
Personally, I think it's more realistic to have Kvatch overrun by Daedra, Dremora, etc, instead of scamps

Kyrvas, it is. The problem is my sidekicks pretty much all die at the first combat contact. In the Kvatch castle yard I got 2 xivilais, 2 spider daedra, a daedroth, a storm atronacht and a clannfear or two (not sure if they were summoned by the xivilais or not), and my companions would have been all ready dead if I had played at default difficulty.
I lowered the dificulty setting to easiest possible, and made my challenge to keep as much guards alive as possible. It was more fun than the lone grind at the default setting I think. I succeeded with all Kvatch guards, but none of the legionaries survived. Who cares tough, the legionaries were dull personalties anyway. I have a question for all you who did Kvatch at level 1 or 2: how well did your co-combatants survive? |
Well, I tried Kvatch at level 1... The guards still didn't fare very well. Quite frankly, the gaurds level up with you too... so they were level one, I guess.
I finished with two legionaires, the gaurd captain, and that one dude from Oblivion. and that was with me playing Pacifist. Otherwise, I think they would all survive ;) |
The guards may level, but their gear does not. The xivilais and spider daedra on the other hand are more dangerous than a scaled up scamp would be due their tricks (summons, spell absorbtion). The way the enemies are slumbed together in great numbers suggests to me that the NPCs are supposed to be able to help the player out. They really can't at high level, so I do think Kvatch part scales rather badly. IMHO.

If only the gaurd's gear leveled... Still, they are more of a help than any Morrowind charcater that tried to help you out...

I did the Oblivion part of Kvatch as level 1, picked off a few scamps with my steel/daedric(!?) bow. Then I have to get to the castle... I'm pretty sure the game bugged up at that point. As I cleared the area, I was told to go back and get a key. The dude with the key just said "I'm coming with you!", dissapeared, and I can't find him anywhere. Oh, and in the meantime, everyone in the area died except the questgiver. Someone... anyone... please?

that happened to me, too, BofB. :/
i ended up going back to an earlier save and redoing the whole kvatch thing, making sure i stuck with him . had no problems the second time thru. V***V |
Whenever you enter a door before him... he stays on the side of the door you *aren't* on. The best way is to go back through the door, see if he's there, if not, go back through. He should be there, waiting to lead you on.
If not, Reload! :D |
