Just FYI, skip Medium Armor. You'll get more out of glass armor, there's not 'ultra' medium armor and there's no master trainer. It confers less protection than heavy but more than light/given price but Indoril armor is the best and that's too low to consider wearing later on. But, Medium has one advantage and that's unique items. There are some heavily enchanted and extremely cool armor pieces throughout the game, especially later.
Also, a word on Heavy, when wearing a suit of ebony armor aou'll need a few items that boost your strength in order to move Now imagine me in daedric armor...

Going way back to the origional post:
The pauldrons that you pick up in that particular cave are in VERY poor condition. Have you tied having yours repaired? If not I think that is your problem.

There are several sixth house bases located on the map, not all of them are quest related though. The one you ran into is probably called Assemanu, that's the only cave situated between Ebonheart and Seyda Neen, along with another place called Akimaes Grotto. So it's either one of those two, but i think it's Assemanu. If it's related to the mainquest... i'm not really sure, but i don't think so. It might be related to one of the guildquests though, i suppose you find out later.

Hey avatar, you mentioned a good map? Still looking for one (bought my game used without a map), care to post a link?

Cheers
Philipp

This is what happened with the pauldrons.

When I first started, a lot of people were saying how good med. armor was! I'm using one piece of light and one piece of heavy armor to slowly increase my skills in the other armor types.

in one on one, who knows, but you'll need a better weapon than the one you have.
I've been using a silver sparksword which did about half of what my current sword does, and I haven't had many problems killing stuff with it. I killed an orc very early in the game with it, after practicing speechcraft turned out with me being attacked, and I recently killed a madman under Ebonheart, who I think is plot related, based on what I got from him. That's also where I got my glass sword.

Yeah, that's it. Morrowind has REALLY crazy names.

I've been using a silver sparksword

HAHAHA, thats so weak. i've been using two weapons: a blight staff that does 200 poison damage over two seconds (plus 20 physical damage) and a daedric dai katana that does 60-90 fire damage (plus like, forty some physical damage). like i said, you will eventually need to aquire better weapons, because either of the two weapons i use would probably kill you in one hit.

One hit from the staff, two from the katana

Where's all the good stuff? (preferably one-handed longswords, but anything better than my glass frostsword.) I'd rather find things or legally kill someone (crime not reported) for something rather than buying it. Don't tell me to steal stuff. I have a sneak skill of 6. They'll hear me coming from a mile away. :D

promethius9594 06-30-2004 02:08 AM

um, for the best weapons you either find them in quests, or you HAVE to steal them, as not very many merchants sell the quality level of weapons you are looking for. save your money and go join the theives guild, where you can purchase training in sneak (primarily) and security (also important for picking locks). once you have done this (up to at least 60 in each skill) go to the ghostgate and rob everything you can in both towers. you'll find a full set of glass armor, and several weapons you should like .

as far as a good weapon goes, i dont like most longswords. what you need at this point is the sword of white woe. go to balmora and check the towers, its in the very top level of one, on top of the cabinet next to the guard. you'll have to steal this one too.

also, you can rob the vaults in the hlaalu, telvanni, and redoran cantons in vivec to get all sorts of goodies (weapons AND armor) worth a total of more than a million septims.

Promethius is right, most good weapons are from quests or theft, if you could give some idea what you considered "good" it might be easier. It's possible to get things like glass longswords without theft or quests, but are they good enough for you to consider "good stuff"?. You could always try bound weapons spells if you have some magic skill, that'll give you something better then the vast majority of weapons in the game.

once you get the sword of white woe, and level up a couple more times, and have the suit of glass armor, you could go around looking for a dremora lord who has a daedric dai katana and enchant THAT with a good spell.

theyre hard to kill at low levels, though, which is why i recommend the sword of white woe as a sturdy weapon to carry you through until you can start self enchanting your own weapons. (note: best weapons to enchant are the ebony staff, and the daedric weapons).
