Once again, thanks for all the help.

Veselle, I did what you said and got the three downloads you suggested. I was OK with the CMedia one but got a warning message with the other two which said that they didn't have the Windows logo or something and were not necessarily compatible with Windows XP.

Can I ignore these messages or leave well alone. I do have a backup computer which is:

Pentium III 500
Geoforce 2 64mb something or other
Soundblaster 128
128 SDRAM
Windows 98

I suspect strongly I would struggle with this one though.

If you tweak your morrowind.ini file you can stop alot of the crashes. "morrowind configuration settings"
Change Max fps 240 - to something like 60. I changed mine to 80.
Interior cell buffer 10 change to 32
Exterior cell buffer 32 change to 64
Or higher if you have the ram.
This helped me out alot. I have almost no crashes to desktop now.
For any newbies out there, don`t mess with this file unless you know what you are doing. If the changes are not made exactly you can really mess up your game.

so there is a patch for fixing the "crashes to desktop" bug???

While browsing on some other sites I read that the Official Patch was supposed to be released on or around june/10. Didn`t say whether it dealt with the crash problems or not but you have to assume it will. The other Morrowind boards are littered with people like ourselves dealing with the crash bugs. I`m sure Bethesda is quite aware of the problem... here`s hoping they hurry up and release the patch that deals with it.

Just an update on above... I guess someone had nothing better to do than start a false rumor about an official patch being released. It was all bogus apparently. The june/10th part anyway. Now most are saying it`s in the works and should be out in about a month. Hmmmm do I trust them yet again?
