there was a storm going on, everyone was trying to save the boat...

Ni Deng stiffled a yawn and stretched his ageold limbs. Looking about his darkened cabin, it seemed his eyes were playing tricks on him. The room seemed to swagger back and forth even though he lay still.
He could hear commotion outside. Thunder, howling wind, people screaming so hard their voices would be hoarse in the morning.
Rising slowly from his bed, Ni Deng grabbed hold of his walking stick and made it to the door. Peering outside, he saw nothing. A lightning flash illuminated the ship, and showed chaos. A second flash, and Ni Deng spotted the liferaft opposite his cabin.
Relieved, Ni Deng returned to his still warm bed.

In the Woods RPG thread, 250's character Tsang had just made a verbal blunder. Reminded of her half-elf parentage and that she is unwanted by both parents, Mistral begins to walk away. This is how Tsang responds:

a scene going on in his mind
Tsang in white shout beside Tsang in black's ear: com'on you are smart! do something!
Tsang in black's hair stood up straight, eyes popped out. He then stood up really tall and yelled down to Tsang in white "OK! I AM TRYING!"
Tsang in white shout back on top of his voice, not backing down "HURRY UP!!!" "SHUT UP!!!" "YOU SHUT UP!!!" "DONT TELL ME TO SHUT UP, @#$@#%!" "YOU LITTLE..."
they break into a dog fight...

Tsang stood there motionless for a long moment, then he smacked his own head with both hands "BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP!!!"

I thought Jerome's original post on the good smiting thread was pretty awesome, though sadly i couldn't find the thread.

I found it -

"The morning dawned over the IW population, sunlight washing away the dark tendrils of the night, bathing the earth in a warm, tender glow.

There is a little patch of land however, that is not touched by the light, nor has it been for little over two years since the dark one was slain. "The Fallen's Garden" the superstitious local villagers called it - a thick and dark forest which no light penetrates, which has sprung up and grown around the body of Jerome The Fallen Paladin... defeated in a battle between Larry, Rikard, and the other Ancients of the Blueboard. He died at the end of a mighty struggle, which saw him first fall from his lopfty status as a Paladin, and then subjectIW to a reign of terror that has inspired legend about those who took part.

At the end of the battle, he died.

Death, however, does not possess the finality that some would believe.

A hand broke the earth as it grasped into the air that it had not felt in years. Soon, the rest of the body followed, a helmeted head, an armoured body, and an ancient, blackened blade.

Jerome stood aloft, his face a contorted smile.

"HEAR ME IRONWORKS! HEAR YOUR MASTER SPEAKING! I HAVE CRAWLED AND FOUGHT AND BATTLED MY WAY BACK TO LIFE - MY REVENGE *WILL* BE SATED!"

Even nature itself seemed to stop and listen, all was silent as he continued.

"LOOK AT WHAT HAS BECOME OF THIS PLACE... LOOK AT THE FEEBLE, LAW ABIDING *FOOLS* WHO HAVE POWER... WHILE MY EVIL BRETHEREN ARE HUNTED! THOSE WHO ARE EVIL.... RALLY UNDER MY BANNER, AND WE SHALL RECLAIM OUR RIGHTFUL PLACE IN THIS PATHETIC WORLD, AS IT'S MASTERS!"

"THOSE WHO WOULD OPPOSE ME... TREMBLE. I HAVE NOT LAIN FOR ALL THIS TIME IN SLUMBER, I HAVE STRENGTHENED DAILY, AND NONE WILL *DARE* STAND AGAINST ME. AND YOU, LARRY, YOUR'S WILL BE THE FIRST LIFE I TAKE AFTER MY... OTHER SETBACK. YOUR CARCASS WILL HANG ON MY WALL! SO SAYETH JEROME THE FALLEN!"

and all existence trembled.
Evil had returned."

ooc: an old fashioned brawl between good and evil, with me and Larry headlining. Choose your alligence well, mortals.

Gal and I were talking it over last night, and this is our contribution: From Hazardous Times IV by our own Mistral. Isaura has decided to unveil herself to Raymond:

Isaura
My fate is sealed...

Hearing Raymond's distressed question, she turns to him, her cheeks burning with shame and misery ~ "It is not your fault..." ~ Softly she whispers ~ "I owe you an explanation, I suppose..."

Rising to her feet, she stands facing him, that look of humiliation still evident ~ "Years ago, I set out for the world just like you did. And I met someone... someone special." ~ Her voice trembling, then hardening almost instantly ~ "Or so it seemed. We... had a baby... her name was Joy." ~ The irony almost tearing at her heart, she struggles to contain the haunting grief ~ "He left. That someone special, I mean. And I was left with my little Joy." ~ Her look alternates between hatred and that of fond memories ~ "She was my life. I wanted everything for her. But I had no money."

Money... it meant power. And a life for Joy. ~ "One day, I left in search of fruit. As usual, I left Joy in the cottage, as I thought it was safe..." ~ Seeing the incredulous look on Raymond's face, she suddenly snaps ~ "I was only fifteen! How was I to know?!" ~ Then her voice drops to a whisper, wistful and hopeless ~ "She died. The fire in the cottage was blown off by a strong gust of wind, and my Joy... she died of chill."

For a moment, the raw pain seems to wrench her voice completely and she stares right through Raymond as if he were completely transparent. An eerie hoot from a lone owl draws her back to reality and she speaks once more.

"I came across a temple. Full of remorse, I begged the clerics to imprint this symbol to remind me of my folly." ~ She runs her finger along her left cheek ~ "Oh, I begged for days... they finally relented." ~ Her eyes flutter involuntarily ~ "Still it was not enough. So I vowed to wear a veil to cover my face partially..."

By now, her cheeks have once more turned to a bright scarlett ~ "... and I vowed that the day my veil was removed and my face revealed to a man, he would be..." ~ She turns away, her voice trembling with fear and shyness ~ "... my husband."

OOC>>> There, Larry! All clear now?
