This will only work if you have the expansion pack, Throne of Bhaal, installed.

It's most probably just there Ares, so long as the body of the dragon is still visible, it'll be there. Same thing happened to me too, took eons before I could find it as it isn't (in my case) not visually apparent. Just look somewhere near his neak and breast part, or even wings.
