About the THAC0
if you have the crom feayr you get a +5 Thac0 bonus
+25 str which is a +6 bonus to hit
so your Thac0 will be lowered to a max of 11 (depends on the characters previous strengh)
This means anyone can be a fighter

There really are enough strength items (about four in SOA) so using two for the crom frayr isn't too bad. But it's only really great if you dual wield it with someone like Korgan (with Stonefire or something) who can have at least mastery in hammers since it lowers your thaco so much. I wouldn't use it for someone like Viconia or Aerie becaues you really want to maximise your damage potential.
