No, it is unavoidable even if you dont take him to spellhold he will die after you come for him in the copper coronet or wherever you left him.

'once i was about finished with the Asylum i had Yoshimo appear, the problem is i dont think his heart was there when he got killed, he did apologize though for betraying me. Is that weird or what??? lol

Ah, but be sneaky. After the Underdark when you go back to the Copper Cornet, have one person with boots of speed run at Yoshi once you enter, and TALK to him before he dies.
Have him join your party, he will still die, but he will be dead in your party, then just go rezz him, Yoshi is back!
