oh and about the half-orc barbarian. why worry about a 19 strength at all? if you can get an 18/00 then all the 19 strength does is give you ONE more lousy point of damage. you can put that extra point into dexterity or something. of course, thats saying that you can get an 18/00, so on second thought, if you cant get it after a few tries, then just do the 19 strength. damn, i need sleep im not thinking this morning, lol.

Even with all these new classes and kits, I still like the tried and true fighter, and plain mage the best.
My fighter always wears armor of the hart +3, boots of speed, dual wield with crom faeyer and equalizer, (Till I realized it sucked.) He had a ring of gaxx, and other accesories which I do not remember. Anyway he dealt out no less than 25 damage per hit, and used the mirror image sword when things got out of hand. |
the cleric/ranger is the most useful character in the game by quite a margin... the kensai/mage might be more powerful individually, but consider the following party:
ranger/cleric (possibly stalker) minsc valygar yoshimo/imoen jan nalia (i would have preferred edwin but party problems forbid this) with 2 tanks, 2 full time mage, 1 cleric and 1 thief/mage the party appears to be fairly normal at first glance... but with one very very significant feature: the whole party can hide. nalias insufficient hiding ability can be taken care of by giving her a staff of the magi, and imoens can be augmented with stealth-enhancing items. the party is not that much weaker than normal choices in conventional combat... and the advantage of being able to get into position before initiating combat is immense. if only there were several cloaks of non-detection in the game... Another question.. I am wondering what level I should get to in part II?? .. arghh, so rusty on BG2 terms... what level should i get to before i go get Imoen.... i always remember having trouble if i didnt level up enough .... suggestions pleez.. I think i am going to go solo with a barbarian.. any tips on how to do so?

I prefer swashbucklers. haflings are awesome!
- dual wielding (Daystar works well) - scouting with hide in shadows, and if you add the girdle of piercing, cloak of displacement, boots of avoidance (or boots of speed), etc. You're nearly untouchable by missle weapons. -you can never fail at picking locks and finding traps. You don't get the backstabing bonus, but who needs that when you have tanks to do the work for you! - You don't have to worry about picking up an NPC with thieving skills. Jan's pretty cool, but without the added thief, you're free to pick up tanks, mages, whatever you want. this probably isn't the BEST class, but it's my favorite. |
