Ok next question about the eyeless ppl, you get past the gauths, and the trap before the temple, then what, you talk to some ppl that are almost souless, and you find out you can't defeat the hate hungry beastie in the temple???? huh, what next here???

I am usually pretty low-level when I get here, so I send my thief slowly ahead with 'hide in shadows' until he sees the Beholder (make sure he DOESN'T have is bow in his hand). Then bring him back to the party, and your spell-casters throw Fireballs and any other 'area' spells, including 'silence'. Heal it????? how many times do I have to heal the damn thing before it stops attacking me???

Yes (no I am not on drugs) healing it will kill it. But if you have attacked it before, it will take you several healing spells to do the trick.
