I prefer Sorcerers meself - but that is for the reasons listed above...

However, you can always carry scrolls of spells you don't use often and have your Sorcerer cast from them... it works for Limited Wish or Freedom - those spells you don't have a great call for.

Either way, Sorcerer or Mage, you have to know your playing style and what works well for you.
