I'd say a Ranger/Cleric for you'll have all the druid spells without the impossble exp needed for level 14/15

As Rikard says, Ranger/Cleric is sweet. My main char from BG1, who is now my main char in BG2 is a half-elf Ranger/Cleric. Nice high level cleric spells, load them up with a girdle of Giant Strength (can't remember which I have, but str is now 20 I think.), the 3-headed flail from Nalia's keep, and a +4 Mace that I found somewhere, and it's a machine of destruction. When I finish up I am very interested in trying the Monk kit. Someone said they killed Firkaag with one, barehanded hit! Quivering palm is what he used, and dropped him like Mike Tyson used to do in his prime. Could be interesting!

ok now, if I was to do a kensai/mage, what level is wise to get to before dual-classing? oh yeah... and what race?

I actualy meant a Dual ranger to cleric coz then you'l reach a higher spell level
but ofcourse he wil be a tat weaker in total
