I think he had a Shadow or Midnight Cloak for sale (sometimes) in the original. And a few others, maybe the chakrum was there. It could be you have to be a certain level to get the better items as with most merchants. You can try the trick of: go up to him, save game, see what he has, reload if you want to see another random collection of items.

Sorry, yeah, i do remember, the first couple games i played, Midnight Cloak, and one of the better Daggers...if you had max PP and at least one of the Filcher's you caould get some better stuff. All my recent games i just kill them on sight. So i forgot. But the Chakrum he never had. You can see that in the Cosmic Forge, its Item Number is too high.

Ninjas are tough in the beginning but pay off in the long run. It can be frustrating though.

I've got 3 Priests turned Fighter now. I did 5 lvls of priest so the spells are pretty good. I'm kinda thinkin' of the ranger thing myself.

I did one game 6 rangers and they were awsome. It was in the original game. The battle with the prince on assention peak was a cake walk. All but three were instawacks. The beginning is tough because they don't do a whole lot of damage and you have to change tactics a little but they were very fun. If you raise dex and sen by the time you get to rapax courtyard you can melee with any weapon just fine also but there really is no need. I did bow all the way.

Yes, I've only been developing dex and sen. I took 3 elves because I knew they could get that good armor from bela.

I am running into problems with magic users. I have to buy some magic screen scrolls.
