I was annoyed by the 'level cap' type deal for monsters in certain areas. For example, in Arnika-Trynton road, I have peaked at juggernauts and that's all we come across now, which gets boring. I think it would have been better if all areas could improve their monsters with the level of the group.

Also I found the lack of variety of traps in chests irritating too. There's a lovely big list of traps but dagger scatter and poison darts are vastly overrepresented, which gets monotonous.

Well, if you're bored by the Juggernauts, it's obviously time to move on to a more exciting area ;)

The incompleteness of the game is a disappointment (although I'm glad they managed to get it out on the market at all), but the biggest single disappointment has to be the final confrontation with the Savant. It's never been a contest, no matter what the composition of my party.

Gab 02-19-2004 03:26 PM

The Savant can be hard if you face him at level 20.

Like many, my disappointment is the unfinnished quests. It would be cool if you could rob the bank and be rewarded by Rattus.

THIS NEEDS A HUGE SPOILER TAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh, I can't find one bad thing about this game. Given the circumstances, I'm happy this game got into the market.

The unfinished quests, I'm not sure if anyone understands the circumstances or not. Wiz8 was on the market for ages, like 1995 or so. They were running low on funding and buyers to sell internationally. So, they were nearing the end, and they couldn't wait any longer, money, people, so they had to sell. Thats why they are not on par with societies expectations for great graphics.

As for continuing the game after you beat the D.S., just look on the sticky thread of great hints.

Game not being moddable. Sirtech doesn't float that way.

I'll agree with Jazzybelle.

Lastly, don't despair. Wiz9 could be coming soon. I know that interview on RPGdot said a lot, god knows its been overposted on this forum. But, look at some other facts will you.

That news article was posted for starters.
Secondly, just with Bane of the Cosmic Forge and Crusaders of the Dark Savant, there are multiple endings that have endgame saves. Now, correct me if i am wrong, but practically every game i have beaten and they make an endgame save, there is some form of expansion or new game where you can import.

Thirdly, the most obvious thing that gets you thinking. The Sirtech official website and Wiz8 tech help forum was down for over a year. If sirtech was dead, why go back and spend hours and hours on repairing the site and fixing their homepage? THere was or maybe still is people working in Sirtech. I do believe Linda Currie was intending and may have been trying to get Wiz9, but whether they are working on it now or not is debatable.

Biggest disappointment:

Not having keyboard shortcuts for the character inventory page.

"Also I found the lack of variety of traps in chests irritating too. There's a lovely big list of traps but dagger scatter and poison darts are vastly overrepresented, which gets monotonous."

Yeah, I also felt the more punishing traps didn't show up enough. Though ***SPOILER***

setting off a curse trap and finding 2-3 of your guys dead "Curse? I thought I was just gonna get hexed!" on IronMan gave me a bit of respect for the traps. But there are some traps that seem silly, like Rune of Madness. (I think that's what it's called...) All it has ever done is make some of my party members insane. How is that gonna hurt me unless I decide to open chests with enemies around?

And SecretMaster, I think a lot of us realize that we are lucky W8 came out at all, and that some of the loose ends had to be left loose. But that doesn't mean it isn't disappointing!

Funny thing is, there were some things I never even considered "unfinished" before coming to this board. For example, ***DoubleMcSpoiler w/ Cheese***.........................................

I never thought Rattus' bank job was unfinished. I just thought it was giving you a hint that the bank could be robbed. Lots of things that seem easy and de rigeur now were totally out of my range when I first started playing. The Chapel (or whatever you call it) w/ the Sorceress Queen seemed virtually impossible my first time around, but now, knowing what coming, I can beat it pretty regularly.

MasterPooBaa 02-22-2004 08:47 PM

hmmmm biggest dissapointments...

Yes the lack of chest trap variety. definately an issue.
The lack of damage done with spells once you regularly fight med-high level monsters.
Whats the point of all those offensive spells really when they do jack all damage?
The only ones i really use are the spells that linger... firestorm, draining cloud, toxic cloud etc... just to keep the enemies occupied.
