I too am stuck in the no magic zone.
i went to the blue door and I could use magicand they couldnt. It worked. But know I go to the 4th bough and noones in there and thats where they told me to go. I opened the two small chests but I cant open the big safe. Where am I suppose to go from here. I imagine there must be something important there but i cant find it. please help. Im stuckand getting very frustrating

Kane- When i encounter those saplings in the armory I usually only have magic screen, what I do is cast silence, insanity and hynotic lure, run in close and make them into a pile of woodchips.

There is nothing in the 4th bough that is needed to win the game but, you can do the 7th bough thing here, apease the spirits (gives you a save resting spot), find a sacred tome, a useful spellbook, a couple of scrolls, and some random stuff from the armory and lots of experience.
