Me thoughts:

1. You're getting tired because you haven't been putting points into
vitality and/or strength. Yeah, everyone blah, blah, blahs about
the expert skills. But if you're using your spell casters to
support your bard's music habit, you're wasting valuabe magical
resourses.

2. Well, if you don't like the damage, then do something about it.
I don't seem to have your problems with damage. Or lack of
criticals. Yet my Ranger/Bard hybrid seems to do just fine.

She's level 3 in Ranger & 10 in Bard. (Going 1 of 4 in leveling.)
She should be worse than your dedicated ranger...

But she's also stronger, and much much faster (near 90 now) and
really cranks out the fire-power. Especially when she's used the
"haste" drum...

It really appears to me that your character is just weak. Send
him to the gym to pump some iron.

3. Some will say this doesn't make sense. However, since I've shot
a bow (not a compound, either), fenced (foil & sabre) and done
three styles of martial arts, I can tell you without equivocation
that strength MATTERS in all of those areas.

Or to put it this way, a good strong man will generally beat a
good weak man.

A: dex does not add more attacks. close comabt skill does, Spefic weapon skill does, and Speed does. Dex DOES NOT.

the previous poster is right. not only that, str has the same bonous to bow that dex does, AND it adds to to hit too (as per description)

How can I prove this?

I had two rangers, one started at psi 1 then went to ranger at 2.

Now, i pumped int and sen, ranged went up so fast its not even funny, but it was near the same range as my other ranger, who dindt double class and went spd/dex

the non-multi had 1 more attack (or shot i cant remember), but that was because the second ranger had 50 speed(non-multi had 80 or so) (which adds to number of attacks per description). The difference in dex was from base, to about 90. yes, base to 90, and the speed was much higher too, only one more attack or shot. this can be attributed to the speed (as the its in game description).

dex does not adda attacks.

Another thing... If your lv 20, you should not be using regular arows.

have your ranger put his portal (should have one by now) and put it at ferro, just buy mystic arrows off him whenever you are short.
