it must be a pretty big file to download then!

Dundee Slaytern 05-16-2006 10:50 PM

Pretty small actually. The files are extracted from your BG1 installation.

Ergo, you need to install both BG1 and BG2 on your PC.

Full installs, mind. Except BG II. A recomended install will work just as well. :D

i wish more npc's were in bg 2 from bg1. i know most of them ar ethere, but are un recruitable. Xzar and monty spring to mind, i know there is a mod for them, but i wanted a more comprehensive one. I might have a spuddle in modding if i ever find the time.

Wow... the Bandit Camp was a whole lot easier than I last remember it... The last fight was literally over in two rounds.

Granted... I completed ALL the non-TotSC quests prior to barging into the Bandit Camp, but the whole affair was still quite anti-climatic.

With Anhkeg Plate Mail and the Boots of Avoidance( and a Potion of Strength plus a Potion of Constitution), Khalid single-handedly owned all the Bandits outside the tents, while Rena( my Assassin) and the rest of the gang were having tea in the forest...

Maybe it was because Khalid was dualwielding two Bastard Swords +1 at 3 ApR, but whatever the case may be, it was all over too soon.

The main fight in the big tent was a total pushover. A toss of an Oil of Fiery Burning and some bursts of Wand of Frost plus multiple arrows, bullets and bolts, and it was all over.

This is my current party,

Rena Ryuuguu, Dagger of Vemon, Throwing Daggers
Khalid, Bastard Sword +1 x2
Jaheira, Sling +1, Frostbrand +3
Minsc, Composite Bow +1, Two-Handed Sword +1
Imoen, Light Crossbow of Speed, Dagger +1
Dynaheir, Sling +1, Quarterstaff +1

I'm currently sitting pretty on 20,000+ gold, with more to come as I prepare to invade Cloakwoods. Will probably spend a bit on potions from High Hedge. I have already bought all the Potions of Healing and Scrolls of Cure Criticals Wounds from the FAI, Beregost, Gullykin and Nashkel.

I am running out of things to buy... May Baldur's Gate prove to be a shopper's paradise.

So far most of my battles can be left on auto-mode. I just need to feed them some potion buffs and let the script do the rest( I made my own scripts).

I can't imagine manually feeding them Good Berries. I would go mad.

Wow. Assassin is quite fun, no? :D

Dundee Slaytern 05-17-2006 09:57 PM

Assassins are more fun in BG2, because that is where their backstabs shine. Rena's backstab multiplier at the moment is the same as Imoen's.

The only solid advantages they get in BG1 are their special ability, Poison Weapon, and the +1 bonus to damage and THAC0.

Also, 15 thieving points per level is an utter pain, since I am trying to pump both Move Silently and Set Traps.

With 25 thieving points per level, Imoen is already skilled in Pickpockets, Detect/Remove Traps, and Open Locks.

Part of the problem I guess, is that I am trying to roleplay Rena's weapon selections. Throwing Daggers as a ranged weapon does not really cut it. Shortbows would have been better.

i reckon ninja stars would be cool as a throwing dagger!

SixOfSpades 05-18-2006 02:25 AM

I'd place Shurikens in the Dart proficiency, myself.

timothy trotter 05-18-2006 02:56 AM

i disagree, becouse you would throw a ninja star the same way you would throw a knife, intending it to 'flip' over and over whilst in flight. I know a dart does this in the game, but most professional darts players will throw it so that it stays in the one direction. (i assume that a shuriken is a dart, i have never heard of one beofre)
