just asking, but is there a way to shadowkeep or edit the blade so others can use it, or cheat a blade that only responds to your pc?

Undoubtedly there is a way yes. Isn't there a program Gatekeeper (the BG1 equivalent of Shadowkeeper) to do those sort of things?

I've never found enchanters to be useful in BG1, in PNP they are awesome, but that's because you have enough ways to make people do your bidding that you never miss those evocation spells (why worry about not having fireball when an army of peasants can take out the dragon for you, or at least provide a tasty diversion.

It can be done using IEEP. I haven't opened it in like a year, but there is a string that can be set to have the blade respond to a certain person IIRC.

where can I get the IEEP? I would like to try that for a mage I have been wanting to play.

And specifically, Xan should never get into melee combat. Any time I equip him with the sword it seems as though he's the first person charging after the hobgoblins, instead of running away. I've had to reload so many times because of him that I rarely take him in my group anymore, even though he's one of the more colorful personalities in BG1 IMHO. At later stages when he gains more buffing spells (I can't remember, do Enchanters get stoneskins, PfMW, etc?) it might turn out to be somewhat useful. But until then Xan is just a pincushion in the making.

Nonsense, he's a monster hypnotizing machine. Take over their minds and have them destroy each other.

Don't Do It!!!! The power of IEEP and the 'keeper' programs are not to be underestimated, also they can be highly addictive, especially if used for dark purposes.

<font color = lightgreen>I'd have to look around for some links, especially since TeamBG's site went away.

IEEP can allow you to create person-specific items, as can Near Infinity by restricting the usability.
If you want to get really fancy, put the "summon monster" effect on the weapon when it is equipped and then have the summoned creature's script check to see if the person holding the weapon is the item's designated wielder. If not, then make the person with the item drop it.</font>
