Yeah he's okay. Kind of repetitive but, all Africa and hunting and baddy hunters chasing/capturing good hunters ;)

I do agree that they have taken quite a few liberties with the Batman setting though.

Yes, in the series...but not in the comic book.

About Birds of Prey. Ummm I suppose it is a nice fresh take, and give women some heros of their own, but lately I have been seeing just too much of the "badass babe" kicking everyones asses on the tube lately.

I guess it just seems that it is too over the top to keep my interest. The outfits are nice, the ladies are definatley hot, but just something wrong with a three girl anti-crime team.... I guess Im a sexist :( (not that I would like to see a three man team either....a balanced approach might be a better idea)

I imagine the pitch meeting for this series went something like this:
Sleazy producer:What's you got for me babe? *puffs on an illegal Cuban cigar*

Poor writer: How about a show based on the daughter of Batman and Catwoman?

SP: Comics are hot now. The Batman movies all made money. Catwoman was hot in that rubber suit. It sounds good but it can't be just one chick. Everbody will think it is a rip-off of Dark Angel. I don't want Cameron pissed at me.

PR: Well we could have Alfred the butler help.

SP: Nahh. We need to get back to the basics, something like Charlie's Angels. Three hot chicks always sells better than one.

PR: O...K. I guess. We could team her with the old Batgirl and I suppose a young girl, like a female Robin. She could be an orphan.

SP: Fine as long as both of them are hot. We need to update it though. You know, keep it edgy. We'll call It NEW Gotham. The people will be mutants or freaks or something.

PR:*sigh* We could say that they are meta-humans.

SP: Nice, very PC; I like it. The babes are going to be hot though? Right?

This isnt out in the UK but and it sounds pretty cool, does anyone know if this is coming out in the UK and if so when? I love DC and this series looks promising, lets hope its even a little bit better than Mutant X :D

Again, in regards to the Huntress:
Originally (in the comic, she WAS Batman's daughter. This was Batman of Earth 2. When DC got rid of the various alternate Earths, that Huntress ceased to exist. However, DC didn't want to loose the copyright on the Huntress character and had to find a way to reintroduce her. They brought her back (on Earth 1) as a totally different person, but she had the same costume, name, etc.
The show seems to be a mix of elements from Earth 1 and Earth 2. I sort of like it so far, but there are little things that bug me, such as the death of Catwoman, the death of Black Canary (last episode) and the exclusion of Robin and Nightwing.
Not to mention the fact that Batman just ran away...

Perhaps this was true somewhere in the DC lineup - but we're talking about Birds of Prey Nowhere in the BoP comic lineup was huntress related to Batman or Catwoman.

I mentioned this earlier, but I suspect this was done for complexity and budget reasons. There's only so many minutes in an episode, and having that many more speaking parts around means more money out on actors salaries.

Yes, I acknowledged earlier that there are 2 versions of the Huntress in the comic. I was merely giving some history to the character and name. I know that things are always changed on TV, like making Pete Ross black on Smallville...

Well, it's been cancelled now anyways, so...
I think they need to do a Batman series.
I want to see a good superhero show on TV again. They need to avoid the campy "it's a comic book, so we can't be serious" mentality and just do something fun.
My wife is personally dying to see Wonder Woman come back.

Sir Krustin 12-18-2002 08:13 PM

Yeah, they cancelled it. Too bad. Still, I can't get worked up about it as I am about fireflys cancellation
