There isnt a answer because thibbledorf pwent is surlier then both of them http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

I have not read dragonlance books so I dont know. The covers always having a dragon on them and the fact that its called dragonlance give me the impression theres nothing BUT dragons and I would rather have the tons of varied characters in forgotten realms. I read a little of a book about the origin of raistlin and I liked it so if you could recommend the quintisential dragonlance book I will give krynn a chance.

I definitely reccomend dragonlance. i may prefer forgotten realms but dragonlance is a close second behind. and not by fay is it all about dragons. the name dragonlance is actually a nmae for a weapon used against dragons in the book.

I love the Forgotten Realms the best . In DragonLance PnP human characters are limited to a certain level by the Gods where as in the Forgotten Realms you are not limited by what level you can go up to.

There is nothing in the Forgotten Realms books that can touch The Chronicles of the Lance Trilogy and the Twins Trilogy for a sweeping epic, earthshaking storyline, clear-cut good and evil, and incredible characterization. The closest Realms set would probably be the Avatar Trilogy, but those Dragonlance books were awesome. Unfortunately after those 6 books everything was pretty piss poor. I haven't read the Souls Trilogy yet. But the Realms world has amazing scope for variety because it's so big.

To summarize:

Krynn of the DRAGONLANCE Saga has its epic struggle, the dark gloom of the RAVENLOFT setting is rich with brooding horror, Elminster's FORGOTTEN REALMS homeland has the vast sprawl of ancient empires, and Athas of the DARK SUN world reeks of gritty survival.

Most of the stuff I have read is the forgotten realms stuff, and that's the area I prefer. So many great characters, lots of different areas. A more traditional fantsy setting. I just got into it more than the creepy style of Ravenloft or the more epic style of Dragonlance. It's the most detailed of the worlds too, which adds to it's appeal. It sounds like there's some tough times ahead for the realms though, from things I've read. We haven't got too many of the brand new books here in Oz yet, so I haven't seen many of the signs of the grittier world yet.

If you can find it, there is an Annoted version to the Chronicles of the Lance series (that's the Summer, Winter, Spring trio, right?) that is very good reading. Tells you the author's thoughts while writing/playing the PnP games, etc. The Author's account of when they sent Tanis down the well with Goldmoon's Staff at the beginning of the adventure they rolled was priceless. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
