So far a cleric / COT mix, level 20 Cleric, level 4 COT. I have to be able to melee a little, and clerics are actually quite good once buffed up. I'm high enough level to have constant stoneskin, bull's strength and owl's wisdom, plus an Ioun Stone to further raise wisdom. Combined with all the heavy armor he's a serious tank that does massive spell damage.
Timber - I've thought about that combo before - the Druid/Ranger. It came down to Cleric or Druid since I wanted to cast high level spells but still be able to go toe to toe. How effective is he in melee? Do you think it's worth a level of Ranger to dual wield? [ 08-20-2004, 11:32 PM: Message edited by: Marathon ] |
My favorite is Shara (subhuman)
L40 Best armor, Best Weapons. |
I have had a good time going through the original campaing with a Monk/Shawdowdancer class as well. Right now he is Monk(7)/Shawdowdancer(10) from here I will continue to gain only monk levels. I actually found the this monk/shadowdancer class to work better than the cleric although for the dragons he had to work a little harder but for the lesser multiple opponents this class combo rules. --Does a circle kick hitting hell hound coming from behind--

This is a tough one, I couldnt pick a definate favourite although Ive just started out with an Intellectually challenged Half-Orc Druid which is proving to be a lot of fun!

I only have the OC (so far ). My favourite character is a Rogue (3)/Bard (11) that I am currently using to kick butt in Chapter 2. His original statistics were:
STR 8/DEX 16/CON 12/INT 12/WIS 10/CHA 16. His current stats vary depending on the robes/ amulets/ belts/ gloves/ rings that he wears. I like “utility” characters; ones that can fill almost any role.
Javan When the going get tough, the bard goes drinking- Bard’s Tale |
Sarevok :D
Couldn't resist making him. I imported the Sarevok Soundset from BG2, customised his portrait from ToB, and tried my hardest to closely follow his stats (with the miserable ability point pool you get!). Chaotic evil of course. Fun game that was! |
I love playing a straight up human Cleric. The 3/3.5 rules have made this class a well rounded option. In the 1st and 2nd edition rules clerics were played basically as a walking Red Cross station.

Dwarven cleric with a few dwarven defender levels thrown in. All dwarves stick together.

I used to enjoy Fighter/Bards, but I've taken an interrest in Rogue/Bards lately. Here's a general outline of the class:
Stats: Str 12/Dex 14/Con 14/Wis 10/Int 14/Cha 14 It's possible that one of the 14's have to become a 12 instead, and in that case I'd lower Con. There are other ways to gain more HP. All other points I get goes into Dex and Cha. Classes: Just a few levels of Rogue adds alot to the Bard. You get:
Max out Use Magic Device, Tumble, Spellcraft and Perform. Concentration, Heal, Discipline and various Rogue skills will also see alot of skillpoints, depending on how I choose to build the character. Weapons and armour: Using mainly ranged weapons and finessable melee weapons. For a human character I'd go for either crossbows (with Rapid Reload), Short Bows or Long Bows (if I get the Martial Weapon feat). Of these I prefer bows. While they don't do as much damage as crossbows, they will eventually give you more attacks per round, and the have a greater assortment of different ammunition types. The elemental damage arrows covers up the Bard's lack of elemental damage spells to a certain extent. As for melee weapons, rapiers are good finesable weapons and morningstars works against enemies with resistance against slashing or piercing weapons. I'd also go for a shield when fighting melee. Shields are very common, and they offer a great deal of protection, both in regards of AC and any other type of protection such as protection from elemental damage. You're bound to find several good shields any almost any module and on any server. Just remember to de-equip them when you want to cast spells, and have in mind that they give you a penalty to several skills while equipped. Feats: Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus, Improved Critical, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Curse Song, Extend Spell, Empower Spell and Maximize Spell are feats to consider.
