One way of getting the job done (that also makes sense roleplaying-wise) is to buff the heck out of your best Tank, including a Potion of Mirrored Eyes, and get him so pumped up that he charges down the stairs by himself. "RAAAHHHH! I am so BIG and STRONG now! I want to kill bad guys! Maybe there are some down here!"
And the rest of the party says, "Hey, wait! We've got to....oh well."
Downstairs, Minsc (he's starting to sound like Minsc, so let's just call him that) meets a woman who wants to talk. But Minsc doesn't want to talk, he wants to chow down on the meaty marrow of Evil. Too bad the woman and all of these monk-type dudes don't look evil....oh, wait. That Demon coming up through the floor, the one with the bloodflecked wings and gnashing teeth....yeah, that looks Evil. GO FOR THE EYES, BOO!
Meanwhile, the rest of the party (who have used this time to cast a few more party-buffing spells) come downstairs, and see Minsc locked in single combat with....something they'd rather stay away from. So they'll just.....kill some of these robed creeps instead. Yeah, that's it.

Moral: Aec'Letec has only a few Death Gazes, and he likes to use them up at the beginning of the fight. If the majority of the party can stay away from him for a few rounds, they'll be safe. Just make sure Minsc spends an appropriate amount of time sucking down Healing Potions (don't want to kill the tannar'ri too soon, now), you should come through with flying colors. What are you saving all of those Potions of Heroism for, anyway?

yeah...in the end, the most difficult/ironic thing in this battle is to keep both the demon and the party alive!

as for the death gazes thing...I've never used this "Minsc" tactic before, but in my encounter with it, it'll death gaze all approachable (within its sight and attack range) foes (my party, not summons), regardless of early or late in the fight. the best bet to me is to spend some golds to get everyone a bottle of mirror eye, and finish the battle before the effect worn out

I must admit that this is the toughest battle in the game, but i dun think it is so difficult that u could spend everything in 20 hrs with no result...

First of all, the vital item u need is lot of Arrows of detonation and wand of fire, go buy them if u dun have. Then have ur all defensive spell memorise (for cleric), but make sure u have dispel magic also (a few of them at least). Be4 u enter cast all the protection spells and drink all the potions that increase ur party stats etc... Engage the woman in a conversation and quickly attack her with ur tanker... The rest (who could use bow) just arm urself with arrow of detonation and aimed at the cultist faraway (too near ur own party would be roast), by the time all the cultists are dead the Ace'lec should be near death (by the fireball), deal the final blow with ur party...

If u are the type of person who doesnt like challenge, like Hierophant say, just cast the residence sphere on the demon and kill him after u have finish with the cults...

thank u all for your help and support ...

I have desired to move on for now .... Not giving up ...just getting some more xp, and some bottle of differents magic.....And then i will return for that devil ....

later ..

i havn't got to him yet but i was wondering if anyone has ever tried casting blindness on him? that's what i do for the basalisks and one they are blinded they stop trying to turn people to stone....just a thought

Actually, there is a VERY simple way of killing him.

Requires one person able to cast cloudkill and a tank/decoy with boots of speed.

Cast cloudkill into the centre of the room. Use the tank to perform laps of the cloudkill, trying to keep Aec'Letec in the cloud all the while.

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

He dies very easily with this method.

[EDIT]Ring a ring of rosies...[/EDIT]

I never done thie battle cause i never done TOSC but if u wanna use bots of speed type cheese why not just use a ranger with bow of markmanship and boots of speed?

the real "meat" of Dace De'Briago's tactic is cloudkill. Ranger + boots of speed will have much more difficulty keeping the demon constantly inside the effect area of cloudkill. The demon runs FAST!

btw, Dace De'Briago, you need ring of free action to make this tactic fault-proof...the bait will be easily held by Aec'Letec in the whole process. Yet, ring of free action + boots of speed seem to be a problematic/buggy combo? haste may do the trick as well?
