1. Ladders. Ignore them and jump down. Annoying? Yes, but much less annoying than trying to climb down.
Without the Athletics skill, you will get 3 - 5 HP of falling damage. With some Athletics, say, Athletics 5, you will usually get 1 - 2 HP of falling damage. There is also the Deadfall trait in the game, which is supposed to reduce the falling damage even more but it does not. It will work only when you jump from bigger heights.

2. Ekbu. He will consider you an Ukabu only after your meeting Mekdawa and talking with him. Without Mekdawa, you are no Ukabu. Typing "Ukabu" or selecting it from the list after Reset Adventures does not help. You must speak with Mekdawa.

3. The Warrior's Guild quest. Jumping down into the Toad Village is enough. You can climb out and go to the questgiver immediately. Shinwiki and his quest is completely independent on it. You can return later and meet Shinwiki if you want. You can bypass it without any consequences later in the game.

I might be doing this wrong...but aren't you supposed to look straight up when going down ladders?

Hmmm... I'm not sure. I look down so my forward direction is down the ladder. If I'm looking up, then my forward direction is up the ladder. I don't remember if I've tried just backing all the way down the ladder... I'll have to try that soon.

Thanks for all of the help. I completed the Warrior's Guild quest by just, ahem, falling down the ladder and then high-tailing it out of there. I guess I'll never finish the Ukabu quest, but c'est la vie.

if im not mistaken if you fall on a toadie they consider it an attack.i think it happened to me a few months ago.gotta be careful where you fall i guess!upward and onward to bigger and better loot!!!
